Role Description We're looking for a Service Activation Engineer for a leading telecommunications and network infrastructure company that delivers enterprise connectivity solutions across the United States. If you're passionate about networking, enjoy solving technical challenges, and have experience with routing, switching, and carrier Ethernet technologies, keep reading! In your day-to-day, you will: - Configure switches, routers, and network equipment for customer service activations. - Work remotely with field technicians to install and activate customer premise equipment (CPE), headend, and hub devices. - Review network designs and coordinate hardware deployments for enterprise fiber projects. - Support the activation and acceptance testing of business services including DIA, EPL, Cellular Backhaul (CBH), and Type 2 circuits. - Assist with lifecycle upgrades of switching, routing, and optical network platforms. - Deploy monitoring solutions and troubleshoot customer installation issues alongside the Business NOC. - Collaborate with engineering teams while meeting project deadlines in a dynamic environment. Qualifications - Experience working with network engineering, service activation, or telecommunications. - Strong understanding of Layer 2 and Layer 3 networking concepts. - Entry-level routing and switching technologies. - Familiarity with Metro Ethernet Forum (MEF) concepts, including NNI and EVC configurations. - Experience supporting enterprise services such as DIA (Dedicated Internet Access), EPL (Ethernet Private Line), and Cellular Backhaul (CBH). - Knowledge of acceptance testing methodologies such as Y.1564 or RFC2544. - Understanding of networking protocols including BGP, OSPF, MPLS, IEEE 802.1Q (VLANs), and Spanning Tree Protocol (STP). - Experience with Change Control and Method of Procedure (MOP) processes. - Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills. - Advanced English communication skills. Requirements - Experience with Change Control and Method of Procedure (MOP) processes. - Experience deploying and troubleshooting Cisco or similar routing and switching platforms. - Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Visio. - Familiarity with Linux-based networking environments is a plus.
