Vogo is headquartered in Dallas and led by a team of travel industry veterans About this Role Vogo is seeking a hands-on Senior Full Stack Engineer to work across our frontend and backend stack and build the products our travelers use every day. You'll own both user-facing features and the services that power them, from turning design concepts into polished user experiences to building the APIs and backend systems that support them. This is a senior role in practice, not just in title or compensation band. As one of the senior engineers in our Dallas office, you will serve as a technical leader for the team, helping drive release readiness, mentoring engineers, contributing to architecture decisions, and shaping how we build and scale the platform. You will have meaningful influence over both technical direction and engineering culture. The ideal candidate combines strong technical depth with an ownership mindset and a passion for building high-quality products. Success in this role requires someone who cares equally about the customer experience users see and the performance, reliability, and scalability running underneath. This role reports to the Head of Engineering. It's a full-time hybrid position based in Dallas. Role & Responsibilities: - Collaborate closely with leadership, product, and engineering teams to design, architect, and deliver end-to-end features across our platform - Build and maintain user-facing applications using React, Next.js, and TypeScript, ensuring high performance, accessibility, and exceptional user experiences - Develop, maintain, and optimize backend services using Node.js while integrating with PostgreSQL and other internal systems - Contribute across all areas of the business where software is needed, including internal tools, operational systems, data integrations, warehousing, and reporting solutions - Collaborate closely with engineering peers to maximize overall productivity, exchange expertise, and uphold excellent benchmarks for code quality, system performance, and dependability - Contribute to code reviews and architectural planning, driving ongoing optimizations across our engineering workflows, developer tools, and core infrastructure - Help lead releases and share ownership of release readiness alongside other senior engineers - Mentor and support engineers across the team while helping establish and maintain technical standards and best practices - Act as a technical point of contact for your area, proactively flagging risks and pushing back on scope when something doesn't fit our stack Minimum Qualifications: - 6+ years of backend software engineering experience - Strong experience with Node.js and PostgreSQL, or equivalent experience with modern backend technologies and relational databases - Experience building modern frontend applications using React, Next.js, TypeScript, and Tailwind CSS - Strong SQL skills with the ability to write, debug, optimize, and maintain complex queries - Solid understanding of backend architecture, distributed systems, API design, and scalability principles - Experience with cloud infrastructure and DevOps practices, preferably within Google Cloud or AWS environments, including CI/CD, monitoring, and infrastructure as code - Entrepreneurial mindset with a self-driven, ownership mentality - Excellent collaboration and communication skills Preferred Qualifications & Prior Experience: - Experience in the travel, marketplace, or e-commerce industry - Experience scaling consumer-facing systems to millions of daily users - Contributions to open-source projects or active participation in technical communities - Experience with Google Cloud Platform or equivalent cloud infrastructure providers Benefits & Perks: - Competitive salary + equity - Top-tier laptop provided - 100% company-paid health benefits for base plan coverage, with the option to upgrade to higher-tier plans - 401(k) with company match - Unlimited, guilt-free vacation days - Annual wellness stipend (gym + other wellness activities) - Monthly house cleaning stipend - Annual travel allowance - Monthly cell phone & internet usage stipend - Charity donation company match - Employee referral bonus - Team offsites/activities We may use artificial intelligence (AI) tools to support parts of the hiring process, such as reviewing applications, analyzing resumes, or assessing responses.
