Role Description We are seeking an Engineering Manager to drive growth throughout our engineering organization. • Lead the Service team while maintaining hands-on involvement in development. • Drive technical design, architecture decisions, and implementation strategies for service systems. • Establish and maintain engineering best practices around Java, Spring Boot, and event-driven architectures. • Oversee development of the Service platform, ensuring high availability and reliability. • Manage project priorities, deadlines, and resources while maintaining technical excellence. • Lead Agile ceremonies with focus on continuous improvement and team efficiency. • Guide the career development of engineers, with focus on backend development expertise. • Provide mentorship in AI, Java, Spring Boot, AWS, and microservices best practices. • Conduct regular 1:1s and performance evaluations focused on technical and professional growth. • Work closely with Product Management and stakeholders to define and deliver order processing capabilities. • Foster collaboration between the Service team and other engineering teams. • Drive continuous improvement in our event-driven architecture and microservices approach. • Drive AI transformation in team processes and procedures. • Optimize development processes while maintaining high quality standards.

• Manage and grow a team of distributed engineers, conducting regular 1:1s and providing consistent feedback to support each person's performance and career development. • Partner with product management and engineering leadership to shape the IAM roadmap, balancing security requirements, platform needs, and customer impact. • Guide the team through the full project lifecycle: from early design and scoping through delivery and post-launch iteration, ensuring high-quality and timely outcomes. • Collaborate closely with cross-functional partners including security, platform, cloud infrastructure, and the broader Grafana engineering organization to drive initiatives that span team boundaries. • Foster a team culture grounded in security-first thinking, technical rigor, and a respectful environment where people can do their best work. • Contribute to technical discussions, helping the team make strong architectural decisions on authentication flows and multi-tenant design.

• Own delivery and execution across cross-functional teams within the product area. Evaluate business and product requirements for feasibility and ensure they align with the existing product architecture, translating them into EPICs and technical stories. Work closely with Product Managers, UX Designers, and Engineers to refine and groom tasks. • Plan and organize sprints with clearly defined goals, using project planning tools to establish timelines, and delivery milestones, and identify task dependencies early. Foster engineering processes that promote seamless collaboration and teamwork. • Track team velocity to ensure resources are effectively allocated, balancing bandwidth with task demands. Coordinate alignment and manage dependencies across multiple stakeholders to prevent bottlenecks and ensure smooth execution. • Contribute to critical projects by ensuring appropriate design patterns and coding techniques are applied. Remain hands-on, participating in code reviews to uphold high-quality standards. • Ensure monitoring and observability are in place for all owned services, meeting defined SLIs/SLOs. Partner with Product Managers to track and publish post-deployment product metrics, ensuring transparency with key stakeholders.
