As a Professional on the Investment Risk Asset/Liability Management (ALM) Team, you will be an important contributor to the development of investment strategy and risk targets across the organization to help the company grow the funds necessary to serve our customers in their greatest times of need. You will leverage your investment and risk management expertise to evaluate asset classes through an ALM lens, ensuring alignment with risk, return, and liquidity objectives. You'll be a subject matter expert on investment income forecasting and will lead the automation and modernization of our reporting ecosystem for the ALM team and contribute to the maintenance and enhancements of asset modeling to support pricing, ALM, Corporate Risk Model, along with capital forecasting. You will also aid investment risk and strategy recommendations to senior leadership focusing on impact to total return, investment income, volatility, and capital. Job Description Key Responsibilities: - Shapes ALM strategies by analyzing investment portfolios, interest rate risks, and liquidity needs to optimize balance sheet performance. - Collaborates with investment teams to assess long-term asset allocation, evaluate long-term trends, and provide insights on investment risks and opportunities as they relate to ALM objectives. - Leads the Net Investment Income forecasting process for the Investment Risk-ALM team that includes, but not limited to, preparing and reviewing quarterly forecast assumptions (prepayments, rates, spreads, and investment pool strategies), preparing new money rate assumptions, and leading client-specific deliverables. - Leads the automation and modernization of legacy models for Net Investment Income forecasting by designing and implementing scalable solutions. This includes modernizing the reporting structures for client deliverables using Power BI/Tableau. - Monitors capital markets to build and update investment assumptions used in ALM tools and applications. Develops and maintains assumptions, including the complex statistical analysis of historical data and trends. - Maintains and enhances asset modeling to support pricing, ALM, Corporate Risk Model, and investment income and capital forecasting, such as Operating Plan, Strategic Plan, etc. Utilizes deep knowledge of all types of investments on the balance sheet as well as maintenance of complex models of prepayments / cash flow risk, interest rate risk, credit risk [migration/defaults], equity market risk, inflation risk, etc. - Partners with other members of the Investment Risk-ALM and Product ALM teams to maintain investment pool assumptions and strategies, analyze new purchase cash flow, along with ensuring accurate alignment of asset terms and holdings data. - Serves as the primary Investment Risk-ALM team representative in the ongoing enterprise platform redesign initiative by identifying and communicating ALM-related issues, providing actionable feedback, and collaborating with stakeholders to create effective solutions. - Partners with senior members of the Investment Risk-ALM team to add new asset classes and strategies in the proprietary ALFA model to generate model results for distribution. - Recommends adjustments to the calibration of Office of Investments' incentive performance (OIP) scorecard, using eVestment database of peer investment manager performance. May perform other responsibilities as assigned. Reporting Relationships: Reports to Asset Liability Management Leader Typical Skills and Experiences: Education: Undergraduate degree in finance or quantitative field. Graduate degree preferred. License/Certification/Designation: Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) or actuarial designation (FSA or ASA) preferred. Experience: Typically, 5 or more years of experience in investments and/or previous insurance company experience. Experience in investments and Asset Liability Management strongly desired and will consider experience in investment risk management. Experience in fixed income, equity, alternative, and derivative asset class concepts and relationships gained through investment management role. Experience with Python and SQL.
