Role Description The Director, Innovation and Continuous Analytics & Assurance drives transformation in audit practices through innovation and data-driven methodologies. Reporting to the Chief Audit Executive, the role leads the integration of continuous analytics to enhance risk visibility and assurance delivery. This position coordinates and coaches a team of Regional Specialists in Continuous Analytics & Assurance and ensures strategic alignment with GAA work streams as well as with global and regional function leaders to deploy solutions effectively. Operating with high ethical standards and minimal supervision, this role advances assurance through timely, technology-enabled insights. Key Responsibilities - Drive Innovation (30%) - Lead the design, development, and implementation of innovative methodologies, tools, and technologies that advance analytics and assurance practices. - Champion the use of automation, AI, and data science to enable continuous monitoring, risk detection, and real-time assurance. - Strategically collaborate with GAA work streams and global function leaders to pilot and scale cutting-edge solutions across the enterprise. - Foster a culture of innovation by mentoring the Regional Specialists team and identifying opportunities for process improvement and future-focused assurance models. - Monitor emerging trends in internal audit, risk analytics, and digital assurance to ensure the function remains at the forefront of industry practices. - Promote and Ensure High Team Performance (30%) - Provide strategic direction, coaching, and technical guidance to Regional Specialists to deliver impactful, data-driven assurance engagements. - Set clear objectives and performance expectations aligned with GAA priorities and organizational goals. - Foster collaboration and knowledge sharing across regions to promote consistency, innovation, and continuous improvement. - Identify skill gaps and lead capability-building initiatives to develop analytics, technology, and assurance competencies. - Regularly assess team performance, provide constructive feedback, and recognize excellence and innovation. - Promote and Ensure High Quality Standards (20%) - Maintain and promote the highest conformance and ethical standards for GAA. - Supervise the work of regional specialists within the assigned job. - Ensure WV GAA quality standards are maintained, which includes but is not limited to: - Providing on-the-job technical support during planning and field work with the team members, including on-site reviews as assigned at the planning phase. - Ensure all review notes are responded to by team members and compile quality draft audit findings/draft audit reports for RAD review by the end of the fieldwork phase. - Oversee the regional specialists’ follow-up work on obtaining evidence of implementation of audit findings as per auditee's “audit implementation plan” to ensure audit matters arising are fully resolved. - Professional Development (10%) - Maintain Continuing Education (CPE) as required. Qualifications - Bachelor’s degree in Data Analytics, Information Systems, Accounting, Finance, or a related field. - Minimum 8 years of progressive experience in internal audit, data analytics, or risk assurance, with at least 5 years in roles that integrate technology and data-driven approaches into audit processes. - Proven leadership experience in managing or coordinating multi-regional or global teams, including developing talent and driving high performance in a distributed analytics or audit function. - Strategic experience in designing and implementing analytics frameworks, tools, or platforms to support continuous auditing, monitoring, and assurance at scale. - Demonstrated success in leading innovation initiatives within an audit or risk context—e.g., deploying automation, advanced analytics, AI/ML, or real-time monitoring to enhance assurance capabilities. - Strong track record of engaging senior stakeholders, including global function leaders, and aligning analytics initiatives with enterprise risk priorities and assurance objectives. - Deep expertise in analytics tools and platforms such as Power BI, SQL, Python, ACL, or IDEA, and experience working across ERP, finance, operations, or HR systems to extract and interpret complex data. - In-depth understanding of IIA Standards, continuous auditing concepts, and professional best practices with demonstrated ability to uphold high ethical and professional standards. Requirements - Professional certification or progress toward CIA, CISA, or data analytics credentials (e.g., CAP, DA-100, or equivalent) is preferred. - Basic IT Audit. - One or more of Spanish, French, or Portuguese is a plus. - The position requires ability and willingness to travel domestically and internationally up to 30% of the time. - Ability to sit at a desk for extended periods of time and communicate effectively in virtual meetings. - A high standard of written and verbal English is essential.
