Job Description
Substation Engineer – Part Time
AECOM
• Design on multiple manager-assigned projects in collaboration with Technical Engineering Leads, Project Management, the Project Engineering Team, high voltage Engineers, and other Subject Matter Experts • Create technical electrical designs and standards for substation projects such as reactor groups, capacitor groups, station service overhauls, power transformer replacements, power circuit breaker replacements, fiber optic cabling, motor operated disconnects • Provide recommendations to the assigned PM, PE, and project team regarding project expectations, approach, schedule, scope, work plans, step plans, deliverables, and goals • Facilitate, assist, and shepherd the project design team members through completion of the project design • Collaborate with other design groups for non-electrical design elements • Complete and facilitate technical design efforts for high voltage (69kV-500kV) substation projects including new greenfield substations, bay additions, bay modifications, transmission line re-terminations, bus replacements and re-routes, and high voltage equipment replacements • Create, revise, enhance and review engineering standards to support substation design and engineering • Facilitate planning, engineering, and design efforts for installation of substation equipment and other electrical systems in company substations
Job Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering
- 2 years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education
- Experience with high voltage substation design
- EIT Certification
- Proficient in use of AutoCAD and/or Bentley Microstation
- Professional engineering license or ability to obtain one within 2 years of hire (preferred)
- Knowledge of construction practices and constructability (preferred)
- Experience with proposal writing and project estimating (preferred)
- Working knowledge of scheduling and project controls processes (preferred)
- Good knowledge of the industry and technology trends specific to substations (preferred)
- Familiar with applicable codes and standards (IEEE, ANSI, NESC, NEC) (preferred)
- Working knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel, etc.) (preferred)

The position is remote. The ICAM Automation SME will serve as a technical subject matter expert responsible for hands-on coding, automation development, and the integration of artificial intelligence solutions to modernize and enhance ICAM systems and infrastructure.
