Certified Ophthalmic Technician

Role Description We are seeking a Certified Ophthalmic Technician to perform a variety of clinical and diagnostic ophthalmic duties in support of patient care. Responsibilities include: - Perform remote ophthalmic triage by assessing patient symptoms, obtaining ocular and medical histories, evaluating the urgency of visual complaints using established protocols, and determining appropriate disposition, including urgent, emergent, or routine care. - Coordinate patient care by monitoring and responding to real-time communications from scheduling staff regarding urgent patient calls, appointment concerns, and symptom-related inquiries. - Collaborate with scheduling teams and providers to ensure patients are directed to the appropriate level of care and scheduled according to clinical urgency. - Review, prioritize, and respond to electronic medical record messages, patient portal communications, telephone encounters, and provider requests to facilitate timely patient care and follow-up. - Document patient encounters, triage assessments, clinical recommendations, and provider communications accurately and completely within the electronic medical record. - Provide patient education regarding eye conditions, treatment plans, medications, postoperative instructions, and symptoms requiring escalation of care. - Participate in quality assurance activities, protocol updates, staff education, workflow improvement initiatives, and other departmental projects to support safe, efficient, and compliant triage operations. Qualifications - Completion of Ophthalmic Technician training. - Certification as a Certified Ophthalmic Technician by the Joint Commission on Allied Health Personnel in Ophthalmology (JCAHPO). Requirements - No experience required above education/training requirement. - OR an equivalent combination of relevant education and/or experience. Benefits - $5000 Commitment Bonus for qualifying candidates! Job Hours - The schedule for this position is day shifts, Monday-Friday, with no weekends or holidays.
