Job Description

Field Service Technical Advisor

Slate Auto

• Serve as a West Coast regional liaison between Slate service repair facilities and Service, Quality, and Engineering teams to quickly root-cause and recommend repair actions for Slate product issues. • Provide on-site assistance to service repair facilities and technicians when requested. • Provide expert repair guidance to service technicians on complex technical issues. • Support service technicians with high voltage battery pack testing, repair and replacements, discharging, and powering up. • Track and communicate in-field issue resolution to ensure the highest level of customer satisfaction. • Work with Slate Parts, Quality, and Logistics teams to coordinate part ordering escalation and returns. • Provide support to Slate Sales and Slate Customer Care to assist with customer concerns and case escalations. • Identify ECU software and calibration issues, collecting data logs, and documenting findings for Engineering and supplier review. • Work with Slate Warranty team for warranty claim disputes, approvals, and authorization of good will. • Ensure service center certification standards and compliance are being met. • Ensure a consistent and efficient repair strategy across the Slate service network. • Monitor service repair processes and make recommendations on future training opportunities to Service and Slate University teams.

Job Requirements

  • Must have a valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
  • AAS in Automotive Technology or equivalent education / vocational training (trade schools, etc.) is preferred but not required, given relevant and commensurate professional experience.
  • 3+ years of hands-on experience in automotive service and repair in a technician role.
  • 3+ years of hands-on experience working on high voltage electric vehicles (EV) and systems, including high voltage diagnostic troubleshooting, testing, and knowledge of the ecosystem.
  • 3+ years of hands-on experience in automotive field technical support.
  • OEM, ASE, and/or State Certifications, including EV Certification – Master Certification is preferred.
  • Experience working with diagnostic tools, including data logging and ECU flash reprogramming.
  • Experience working with technical publications, including wiring schematics, repair instructions, diagnostic troubleshooting trees, and Engineering technical specifications.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, with an emphasis on technical content.
  • Detail oriented with the desire to achieve the highest standards of excellence.
  • Creative problem solver that can create simple solutions to complicated problems.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, mission-driven startup environment.
  • Ability to interact and communicate effectively with all levels of management.
  • Proficiency using Microsoft Office (Outlook, Teams, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

This role will provide price variance across three legal entities: ADS, USM, and Edgepark. The price variance advisor analyzes discrepancies between expected reimbursement and actual payer payments based on contracted rates and payer policies. The role identifies underpayments, researches root causes, and partners with collections, contracting, and billing teams to correct variances, appeal claims, and recover missed revenue. Revenue Cycle Management (RCM) manages a team focused on a series of clinical and administrative processes that healthcare providers utilize to capture, bill, and collect patient service revenue. The revenue cycle shadows the entire patient care journey and begins with patient appointment scheduling and ends when the patient’s account balance is zero. Responsibilities - Serve as the subject matter expert for pricing-related escalations, partnering with Payer Relations Advisors to support submission, validation, and resolution of systemic pricing issues. - Develop standardized escalation packages including root cause analysis, financial impact, and supporting documentation. - Provide ongoing guidance to Payer Advisors on pricing discrepancies, contract interpretation, and expected reimbursement logic. - Analyze price variances between contracted, standard, or expected prices and actual billed or paid amounts. - Investigate discrepancies related to payer contracts, fee schedules, charge masters, vendor pricing, or system configuration. - Prepare detailed variance reports and trend analyses for leadership and cross-functional teams. - Identify root causes of unfavorable price variances and recommend corrective actions. - Collaborate with contracting, billing, finance, supply chain, and IT teams to resolve pricing issues. - Validate pricing updates and test system changes to ensure accuracy after corrections. - Support audits and compliance reviews related to pricing and reimbursement. - Monitor ongoing price variance performance and escalate recurring or high-risk issues. - Document findings, resolutions, and process improvements in accordance with department standards. - Drive achievement of financial objectives through timely and proper payment collection of accounts receivable and resolution of credit balances. - Effectively utilize dashboards and reporting tools to assess large amounts of information, detect patterns, and identify and prioritize opportunities for improvement. - Perform root cause analysis by analyzing data, researching third-party payer policies and requirements, and investigating internal processes and quality controls. - Clearly document and communicate risks, issues, root causes, customer and financial impacts, and recommendations. Qualifications - Bachelor’s degree in related field, or equivalent work experience, preferred. - Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills. - Able to work cross-functionally and lead projects of complex scope. - Capable of developing solutions to a broad range of difficult problems. - Excels at building relationships. - Proficient in data analytics and root cause analysis. - Self-directed and able to work independently with general guidance. - Prior medical billing experience preferred. - PC literacy in MS Office applications preferred.
