Role Description Symetra is seeking an experienced Program Manager to lead a high-impact, multi-year business transformation initiative focused on our Stop Loss business! As a Program Manager, you will oversee a portfolio of complex, cross-functional projects, ensuring successful delivery while aligning program execution with business strategy. You'll partner with leaders across Product, Engineering, Operations, and Change Management to drive day-to-day delivery, manage dependencies and risks, coordinate vendors, and provide executive-level reporting. The ideal candidate has a strong background in program and project management, with expertise in governance, roadmap planning, release management, and cross-functional collaboration. You are skilled at leading teams through complex initiatives, resolving issues proactively, and delivering results on time and within scope. Experience working in Agile environments and managing enterprise-scale transformation programs is highly desirable. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key leadership role in delivering strategic business outcomes, improving organizational processes, and helping shape the future of our products and operations through successful program execution. What you will do - Partner with Program Sponsor(s) to develop comprehensive business cases and Cost Benefit Analyses (CBA's) that maximize ROI and value delivery across the Program of projects. - Guide and influence the Program Sponsor's vision toward optimal solutions. - Partner with Program Sponsor(s) to drive decision-making and recommend re-scoping, postponement or cancellation of projects as necessary. - Hold others accountable to drive all projects within the Program to on-time, on budget, on-scope delivery within established variances. - Proactively influence change and manage change with limited friction. - Establish and execute Governance framework for both constituent projects and the program itself with the goal of optimizing resources and ROI. - Identify opportunities for process improvements in Governance and Management Reporting. - Contribute extensive knowledge and expertise in the use of Project Management methodologies and tools and can easily transition from one methodology to another. - Partner with Program Sponsor(s) to develop and maintain project and Program Roadmaps that align with and accelerate delivery of Business Strategy. - Ensure that the end-to-end solutions fit within the context of short and long-term roadmaps. Qualifications - High school diploma required. - Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience required. - PMP and PgMP designations from the Project Management Institute strongly preferred. - 8–10 years of cumulative, relevant experience. - Extensive knowledge and expertise in the use of a variety of project management methodologies and tools, resource management practices, risk assessment and change management. - Demonstrated ability to manage the "big picture" and understand how groups of projects sequence together into a Program view. - Advanced skills in change management, communication and risk assessment. - Proficiency with Azure DevOps platform strongly preferred.
