Role Description Sigma Defense is seeking a Network Engineer III to monitor network engineering performance and ensure system availability and reliability. This is a contingent position that is pending award of contract. This means that the position is subject to the successful awarding of a contract and will be confirmed once the contract is finalized. The candidate selected for this role will be offered the position on the condition that the contract is awarded to our organization. Qualifications - 4+ years of experience as a network engineer within the DoW environment. - Experience Substitution: 1 academic year at an accredited college or university in an accredited preferred degree related post-secondary program for 1 year of experience. - Must be a U.S. citizen. - Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Computer Science or related field of study. - 7+ years of experience may be substituted for degree requirement. Requirements - Candidate must possess or have the ability to obtain an active Secret security clearance or higher. - A clearance will not be sponsored. Essential Job Duties - Configure and install various network devices and services (e.g., routers, switches, firewalls, load balancers, VPN, QoS). - Perform network maintenance and system upgrades including service packs, patches, hot fixes, and security configurations. - Monitor system resource utilization, trending, and capacity planning. - Work within established configuration and change management policies to ensure awareness, approval, and success of changes made to the network infrastructure. - Liaise with vendors and other IT personnel for problem resolution. • Build, configure, maintain, and decommission IPsec VPN tunnels between private cloud infrastructure and customer networks. • Monitor VPN performance, troubleshoot connectivity issues, and ensure high availability. • Maintain documentation for VPN configurations, standards, and procedures. • Coordinate with internal teams and external customers to implement secure connectivity solutions. • Participate in an on-call rotation to support network operations and respond to outages or critical incidents as needed. • Assist in the deployment, configuration, and management of hardware firewalls at remote office locations. • Support firewall rule creation, updates, and troubleshooting under guidance of senior staff. • Assist with the deployment and configuration of WiFi networks in remote offices. • Provide remote management and support for network infrastructure at branch locations. • Participate in troubleshooting network performance issues including bandwidth and connectivity. • Assist the Senior Network Engineer with network-related projects. • Gain exposure to data center networking technologies including switching, routing, and segmentation. • Support network testing, documentation, and implementation of new network solutions. • Assist with packet capture collection, basic analysis, and troubleshooting documentation. • Escalate urgent or complex issues to the Senior Network Engineer, Production IT Technical Lead, or Director of Production IT as appropriate.

• Design, deploy, and maintain high-performance network infrastructures for HPC environments, with a strong focus on InfiniBand fabrics. • Troubleshoot complex network issues across InfiniBand and Ethernet environments, ensuring minimal downtime and optimal performance. • Manage and optimize InfiniBand components, including switches, HCAs, subnet managers, and fabric configurations. • Perform performance tuning, monitoring, and capacity planning for HPC networking systems. • Implement and maintain network security using Fortinet solutions (FortiGate, FortiManager, FortiAnalyzer). • Diagnose and resolve issues related to routing, switching, latency, and throughput across hybrid network environments. • Collaborate with compute, storage, and platform teams to support HPC workloads and cluster operations. • Develop and maintain documentation for network architecture, configurations, and operational procedures. • Participate in on-call rotations and provide escalation support for critical incidents. • Lead or contribute to network upgrades, migrations, and new deployments.

• Deliver operational support across enterprise networking, security, wireless, and connectivity environments. • Troubleshoot complex network issues, supporting a diverse customer base. • Work across a broad range of enterprise technologies including Fortinet, Aruba, Cisco, Meraki, WAN services, and SD-WAN solutions. • Collaborate with senior engineers on escalated incidents and continuous improvement initiatives. • Produce and maintain technical documentation, operational procedures, and knowledge base articles. • Manage incidents, service requests, alerts, and standard changes across customer environments. • Monitor, maintain, and support enterprise network, wireless, firewall, and security infrastructure. • Collaborate with Escalation and Senior Network Engineers during major incidents, maintenance activities, and project delivery. • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives, automation opportunities, and operational excellence. • Share technical knowledge with colleagues and support the development of junior engineers. • Foster a collaborative, accountable, and customer-focused engineering culture.
