Senior Kubernetes, EKS Engineer
Ad Hoc LLC
• Serve as an experienced individual contributor responsible for the design, operation, and reliability of the container orchestration platform underpinning a large federal enterprise cloud platform • Help meet scope, schedule, and delivery requirements while advancing the platform's Kubernetes practices • Design, operate, and upgrade production Kubernetes clusters on Amazon EKS, including cluster add-ons (e.g., CoreDNS, kube-proxy, CNI) • Manage cluster lifecycle, version currency, scaling, and standardized node baselines • Engineer cluster networking, ingress, service mesh, and workload isolation across multiple environments • Harden clusters and workloads to meet security and compliance requirements • Automate cluster provisioning and configuration through infrastructure as code (Terraform) • Self-directed design of cloud infrastructure and tradeoffs between cost, reliability, and efficiency • Build reusable modules and improve the developer experience for engineers deploying to the platform • Mentor engineers and present design documents and system diagrams to stakeholders • Participate in technical depth interviews with new candidates
Job Requirements
- Bachelor's and 7+ years of experience; relevant experience may be substituted for education
- Demonstrated, expert-level experience operating Kubernetes in production (Amazon EKS preferred)
- Expert-level knowledge of at least one infrastructure-as-code tool (Terraform preferred)
- Deep command of containerization, networking, and core DevOps concepts
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Public Trust / suitability determination
