Disability Review Operations Manager

• Execute team direction in partnership with the Senior Director of DBQ Operations across Generation, Quality Control, and Quality Assurance teams • Manage goals, metrics, and day-to-day team operations for a large operational team across all three departments, working through supervisors and team leads • Lead, align, and develop supervisors to ensure department-wide consistency and accountability • Coach, mentor, and track team performance against departmental and company goals • Execute the full performance management cycle: coaching conversations, performance reviews, development plans, and performance concerns • Track team goals and progress, support each supervisor's professional development and overall DBQ skill growth • Act as lead in interview and onboarding processes for all new team members, including GoTeam members • Own supervisors' timecards and PTO approvals - serve as backup when supervisors are unavailable • Hold supervisors accountable to their team 1:1s and serve as backup when needed • Own weekly department meetings and bi-weekly staff check-ins • Build and maintain performance dashboards and accountability systems to ensure visibility into team output, error trends, and individual performance • Eliminate roadblocks across teams and escalate systemic issues proactively • Serve as the primary DBQ Subject Matter Expert for Generation, Quality Control, and Quality Assurance teams • Apply medical/clinical knowledge to ensure DBQ content accuracy, appropriate medical terminology, and alignment with VA rating criteria • Review VA template, rating schedule, and policy changes to identify what has changed and update DBQ training materials accordingly • Ensure all DBQ-specific training content reflects current VA rating criteria, accurate medical terminology, and REE Medical's internal processes • Maintain and update process documentation, SOPs, and quick-reference guides as workflows evolve or are revised • Conduct quarterly reviews of all DBQ training materials to confirm accuracy and flag outdated content for revision • Identify content gaps through QA feedback, error trends, and supervisor input, then draft updated training content for Director review and approval • Ensure updated training content is published within 30 days of any major process change or VA update, following Director sign-off • Serve as the content accuracy resource for supervisors and team members who have questions about DBQ-related training materials • Ensure DBQ-related process updates are implemented and communicated effectively across departments • Ensure all teams follow processes and procedures related to Operational Programs and PII/PHI safeguarding • Manage and report on team compliance within REE Medical's policies and procedures • Work in tandem with the Senior Director of DBQ Operations and supervisors to ensure complete alignment across teams • Implement and sustain process improvements that enhance efficiency, reduce errors, and improve knowledge accessibility

Job Requirements

  • VA Disability & DBQ Experience: Deep, hands-on experience with VA disability claims processes and DBQ completion
  • 3-5 years of experience in the DBQ field with advanced understanding of VA disability processes, rating schedules, and regulatory compliance
  • Experience within the VA Disability industry outside of REE Medical is strongly preferred
  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent relevant experience required
  • Medical/Clinical Knowledge: Enough clinical literacy to serve as the DBQ content accuracy expert for your teams
  • Medical training, clinical background, or health sciences education (e.g. medical terminology, anatomy, diagnostic criteria)
  • Ability to interpret VA rating schedule criteria and translate clinical findings into accurate, compliant DBQ documentation
  • People Leadership & Change Management: Proven ability to lead through supervisors and develop teams in a remote operational environment
  • 2+ years of leadership experience managing through supervisors or team leads
  • Demonstrated ability to lead teams through periods of change, balancing evolving priorities while maintaining operational efficiency
  • Experience executing the full performance management cycle: coaching, reviews, development plans, and performance concerns
  • Experience managing remote teams and fostering an inclusive, high-performance work environment
  • Experience ensuring team compliance with PII/PHI safeguarding and data protection protocols
  • Training Content & Process Documentation: Ability to maintain accurate, up-to-date training resources and develop operational processes
  • Experience in developing and maintaining DBQ training resources, ensuring process documentation is clear, accurate, and aligned with VA requirements

This is an internal-facing role focused on transforming how teams operate, not building external AI products. This is not a traditional product role, and it is not an AI experimentation role. We are looking to operationalize AI across the company. This role is for a leader who has successfully driven operational transformation at scale and knows how to move organizations from ideas to adoption, and from tools to sustained behavioral change. Compensation The annual base salary range for this role is $180,000 - $195,000. Forbes has estimated the compensation range set forth above in good faith. The compensation range is what we believe we will offer, and ultimately pay, a successful candidate. In determining this range, we consider the experience, level of education (if applicable to the role), knowledge, skills, and abilities required to be had by a successful candidate as well as the budget and the company’s pay rates, generally.
