Job Description

Senior Product Manager

Tropic

Role Description Tropic will turn real, unstructured contract data into the intelligence that tells customers exactly what they should pay and which SaaS renewals are worth their focus. We’re looking for a Senior Product Manager to help build and improve each part of this process: - Extracting structure from messy contract PDFs. - Building agentic experiences that act on that data. - Expressing that intelligence in our App, APIs, or MCP. You’ll own features end to end, including the quality of what the LLM produces. You’ll write prompts, set the bar for when something is ready to ship, and watch how features perform once they’re live. You’ll report to the Head of Product and partner daily with engineering, design, marketing, and our customer-facing teams. What You’ll Do - Own the discovery of different customer problems and the solutioning of potential Tropic features based on customer interviews, market research, and data analysis. - Develop a deep understanding of how procurement, finance, and business teams evaluate, buy, and renegotiate software. - Work with the Head of Product to prioritize Tropic efforts to address inefficiencies. - Write and iterate the prompts behind our AI features, define the evaluation methodology and quality bar, and own how those features perform once they're in front of customers. - Prototype quickly with modern AI tools to pressure-test ideas before they hit the roadmap. - Use data to make decisions and tell the story: measure usage, segment customers, and turn findings into sharp product bets with clear customer outcomes. - Drive cross-functional alignment with GTM teams on the value your features bring to ensure successful launch with customers and prospects. Qualifications - 5+ years of product management experience, ideally at startup or growth stage companies. - Experience with shipping AI features. - Experience owning major areas of a SaaS or AI product. - Comfortable prototyping with modern AI tools (e.g., Claude, Figma Make, Cursor). - Experience with making decisions quickly, based on research, assumptions, and perspective. - Clear communication and structured thinking to align technical and non-technical stakeholders. - Deep customer empathy and product taste to ensure our AI experiences meet user expectations. - Comfortable pulling your own data to size opportunities and evaluate feature launches. Requirements - Familiarity with the way to structure maintainable prompts. - Understanding which inputs are important and how to evaluate them once they are live. Compensation The annual base salary range for this position starts at $152,000 and may also include incentive pay, incentive stock options, and benefits. The final job level and compensation will be determined by various factors, such as a candidate's relevant work experience, years of relevant experience, skills, qualifications, certifications, geographic location, and other business considerations. Benefits - 100% medical, dental, & vision coverage for all employees + dependents. - Remote first work environment. - Virtual & in-person meetups. - $1000 annual stipend for WFH, L&D, Wellness. - Unlimited flexible vacation and holiday time off. - 14 paid company holidays. - 12-week parental leave for all parents. - Online mental health therapy. - Commuter benefits, FSA, HSA. - Award-winning values and culture. - Equity refresh program. - 401k plan.

• Own a clearly defined area of the CMP product, with full accountability for the quality and direction of the backlog and the outcomes delivered within that area. • Before any initiative is committed to, define a clear outcome hypothesis and a measurement mechanism. • Maintain a well-prioritised, clearly articulated backlog. User stories define the problem and desired outcome, not the solution. Solution design belongs with the engineering team. • Own the instrumentation requirements for every feature shipped. Acceptance criteria must include what needs to be tracked and how success will be measured. • Lead all squad ceremonies: stand-ups, sprint planning, backlog grooming, and retrospectives. • Own direct relationships with customers within your product area. Do not rely on Customer Success to proxy the customer voice. Own the relationship directly. • Participate in structured customer conversations as part of the Product Trio (Product Owner, UX Designer, and Engineer). • Bring proposals grounded in customer insight and data. Proposals come from direct customer discovery sessions, not internal assumptions or stakeholder opinions. • Engage with the underlying problem, not the surface request. When feedback arrives, probe for the root cause before forming a view on what to build. • Every initiative proceeds with a defined outcome hypothesis. What does success look like? How will it be measured? • Track whether outcomes have actually been reached after delivery. Feature adoption is not enough. Confirm whether the expected customer behaviour or business outcome materialised. • When engineering, UX, and stakeholders have competing views, the Product Owner makes the call. Decisions are made with the available evidence, the rationale is documented, and the outcome is owned. • Use AI tools to accelerate research, synthesis, documentation, and analysis. Reinvest that time in the decisions and relationships that require human judgement. • Own and manage roadmap candidates for your product area. Contribute well-evidenced, outcome-defined candidates to quarterly planning cycles. • Receive and evaluate inbound requests from Customer Success and commercial teams. Assess them against the evidence bar. Where requests have merit, shape them into properly defined initiatives for quarterly planning, not ad-hoc additions to the sprint. • Keep Customer Success and Product Marketing informed of progress, upcoming releases, and what is not coming. No should always come with a reason. • Own the handoff to Technical Writing ahead of every release. Documentation should be ready at the point features ship.
