Data Protection Manager

• Act as a trusted advisor on US privacy and AI laws, providing timely, pragmatic guidance to internal teams and engaging directly with customers to negotiate and explain data protection positions. • Lead and deliver privacy and AI compliance initiatives end-to-end, including assessments, data flow analysis, risk identification, and tracking actions through to completion. • Partner with Product, Engineering, Sales, and Legal to embed Privacy and AI by Design into data use, products, and services, ensuring compliance with evolving regulatory requirements. • Review, draft, and negotiate data protection provisions in customer and supplier contracts, balancing legal risk with commercial priorities. • Monitor and interpret new and emerging US privacy and AI legislation, rapidly translating requirements into clear, actionable business guidance. • Maintain and continuously improve compliance frameworks, processes, and documentation, including supporting internal and external audits and ensuring strong record-keeping. • Build strong relationships with stakeholders, while delivering training and awareness programmes to embed a culture of privacy and AI compliance across the organisation.

- Ability to understand legal contracts and regulatory requirements quickly, then apply to ensure GBG’s compliance.
- Ability to work effectively and efficiently under pressure, to strict deadlines.
- Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to persuade and influence others at all levels, with specific experience of managing difficult consumers.
- Questioning nature, allowing you to uncover the full picture, which may then prompt areas for further investigation/resolution.
- Demonstrable evidence you are a quick learner, who can quickly understand complex requirements. This may be researching and then applying local data protection rules/guidance to getting to grips with technical solutions.
- Experience within a complex organisation, preferably within the same industry or similar.
- Knowledge of the State privacy obligations, biometric laws, GLBA, FCRA and other relevant legislation, with proven experience of its application.
- Self-motivated with the ability to work on own initiative.
- Plans ahead and works in a systematic and organised way.
- Shows evidence of clear analytical thinking.
- Applies own expertise effectively.
- Communicates and networks effectively.
