Role Description This role will play a critical part in helping CookUnity become a more nutrition-forward, science-backed food business by supporting nutrition standards, meal classification, ingredient audits, nutrient optimization initiatives, legal claims documentation, and chef-facing nutrition tools. This position is ideal for a Nutritionist/Dietitian who is passionate about food science, nutrition standards, ingredient transparency, nutrient optimization, and translating nutrition knowledge into practical tools for culinary teams. Responsibilities - Nutrition Standards and Meal Classification Support: - Support the development, documentation, and implementation of CookUnity’s Core Line Nutrition Standards and meal classification framework. - Assist in classifying active Core Line meals according to the new nutrition standards and process-level classification logic. - Review recipe and nutrition data to identify whether meals meet defined nutritional criteria. - Help maintain clear records of meal classification status, gaps, exceptions, and follow-up actions. - Collaborate with Culinary, Nutrition, Legal, Menu, and Data teams to ensure standards are applied consistently. - Nutrient Optimization Tools and Playbook Support: - Support updates to CookUnity’s Nutrition Standards + Legal Claims Playbook. - Assist in organizing chef-facing nutrition guidelines, claiming criteria, nutrient optimization tips, and practical recipe improvement recommendations. - Help update internal tools, including CookUnity’s internal and proprietary AI tools, with the latest nutrition standards, classification logic, and nutrient-optimization guidance. - Translate nutrition science into clear, actionable recommendations for chefs and internal stakeholders. - Maintain documentation to ensure nutrition guidance is accurate, consistent, and easy to use. - Ingredient Specification Screening and Standardization: - Screen priority ingredient specifications against CookUnity’s Nutrient Optimization criteria. - Identify gaps between current ingredient specifications and desired nutrition or ingredient integrity standards. - Support the standardization of priority ingredients by reviewing nutrition facts, ingredient labels, additives, claims, and specification documents. - Help organize findings and recommendations for ingredient upgrades, reformulations, or vendor follow-ups. - Maintain ingredient tracking files and dashboards to monitor progress across priority ingredient specs. - Recipe, Cooking Method, and Nutrient-Retention Research Support: - Assist in preparing documentation for MVP kitchen pilots comparing current versus optimized cooking methods. - Help collect, organize, and analyze pilot results, including nutritional impact, operational feasibility, and chef feedback. - Support lab test documentation for cooking-method replacements, including nutrient-retention impact and recommendation summaries. - Help prepare scale, iterate, or reject recommendations based on pilot and lab validation results. - Eater-Facing Nutrition Education Support: - Support the creation of eater-facing education related to nutrient preservation, including reheating, storage, and leftovers best practices. - Help draft clear, science-backed educational content for customer communication channels such as CRM, FAQs, website content, flyers, or other agreed formats. - Ensure consumer-facing content is accurate, simple, brand-aligned, and legally appropriate. - Collaborate with Culinary Nutrition, Marketing, CRM, Legal, and Customer Experience teams as needed. - Legal Claims and Nutrition Communication Audits: - Help keep CookUnity’s Nutrition Standards + Legal Claims Playbook updated. - Support the development of claim standards checklists for nutrition, ingredient, and health-related communications. - Assist in auditing high-impact communication channels such as meal descriptions, website content, meal names, CRM, PR materials, and other customer-facing assets. - Document potential claim risks, inconsistencies, or improvement opportunities. - Support preparation of reports with findings and corrective action recommendations for key stakeholders. - Ingredients Integrity Audit Support: - Support the development and implementation of CookUnity’s Ingredients Integrity Audit Standards. - Assist in auditing ingredients for label accuracy, ingredient declaration accuracy, nutrition facts validation, and alignment with internal standards. - Help review Recipe Management System ingredient data, ingredient labels, nutrition facts labels, specifications, and vendor-provided documentation. - Support classification of ingredients by category, impact level, integrity criteria, and compliance status. - Help build a baseline of ingredient integrity across CookUnity’s ingredient portfolio. Qualifications - Nutritionist/Dietitian degree, or advanced student close to graduation. - 1–2 years of previous experience in nutrition, food labeling, recipe analysis, ingredient review, food science, quality, or data entry roles. - Strong understanding of nutrition principles, nutrient analysis, ingredient labels, nutrition facts panels, and food composition. - Experience reviewing recipes, ingredients, food labels, or nutrition databases is preferred. - Intermediate/advanced user of Google Sheets/Excel and AI tools such as ChatGPT and Claude. - Ability to organize large amounts of nutrition, recipe, and ingredient data with accuracy. - Excellent written and spoken English, as CookUnity’s HQ is located in the USA and the role will interact with global teams. - Experience in the food industry, culinary operations, meal delivery, food service, or CPG is a plus. - Knowledge of food regulations, nutrition claims, allergens, additives, or food labeling standards is a plus. - Knowledge of US Dietary Guidelines and FDA labeling requirements preferred.
