The incumbent will assume complete ownership of accounts from initial delinquency through final resolution, maintaining a rigorous focus on financial reconciliations and cash-flow verification processes. While this capacity does not initially command direct reports, the role is strategically structured to evolve into formal team leadership as portfolio volumes expand. What Success Looks Like - In the initial 30 days: Achieve comprehensive operational familiarity with the alternative commercial finance portfolio, assess the current landscape of non-performing files, and identify systemic reconciliation discrepancies while autonomously implementing workflows. - By day 60: Command complete ownership of the asset recovery lifecycle, ensuring portfolios are managed via systematic processes, auditing milestones occur on a formalized cadence, and executive stakeholders maintain comprehensive visibility through structured performance reporting. - By day 90: Minimize delinquent outstanding balances through disciplined borrower engagement and structured repayment frameworks, analyze operational vulnerabilities to propose tactical optimization strategies, and serve as the definitive expert for complex account escalations. Key Responsibilities - Run collections for MCA accounts: Create and follow practical steps for contacting customers, arranging payments, and moving files forward. - Reconciliations: Compare daily/weekly payments to what should have been received; find mismatches and fix them quickly with the customer and internal teams. - Review past-due accounts: Decide next actions based on company policies and applicable rules. - Talk with customers: Explain what’s owed, set clear plans, and keep communication professional and consistent. - Keep clean records: Log calls, emails, payment plans, and outcomes; keep files accurate and compliant. - Work with other teams: Partner with legal, finance, and customer service on tougher or escalated cases. - Follow company policies: Adhere to all procedures and guidelines. - Report on results: Prepare simple, regular updates on collections activity and outcomes for leadership. - Manage the collections lifecycle: Oversee the entire merchant cash advance recovery flow, including debtor communication, right-party contact verification, structured payment arrangements, and file escalations. - System documentation: Record all communication attempts, log commitments to pay, and maintain precise account notes within corporate databases. - Cross-functional collaboration: Partner closely with underwriting and funding teams to coordinate account management and mitigate portfolio risk. - Performance reporting: Develop weekly recovery assessments, track cure-rate metrics, and analyze portfolio variances alongside actionable strategic insights. Qualifications - 3+ years of experience leading or managing renewal, retention, account management, customer success, or relationship management teams. - Demonstrated success improving team performance through coaching and accountability. - Strong experience conducting pipeline reviews and managing performance metrics. - Excellent communication, leadership, and conflict-resolution skills. - Ability to analyze performance data and translate insights into action. - Experience working in CRM platforms such as Salesforce, HubSpot, or similar systems. Preferred - 3-5+ years of robust asset recovery expertise within the merchant cash advance and alternative commercial finance sectors, including direct accountability for non-performing portfolios. - Advanced financial reconciliation capabilities, with demonstrated precision in auditing bank or credit processor statements and remittance records against projected contractual obligations. - Exceptional verbal and written communication competencies, featuring the capability to articulate strategic next steps and negotiate sustainable repayment frameworks with corporate clients. Who You Are - You are highly organized and naturally proactive. - You thrive in fast-moving environments with evolving priorities. - You enjoy solving operational problems and improving systems. - You communicate clearly and follow through consistently. - You balance strategic thinking with a willingness to execute. This Role May Not Be a Fit If You - Prefer highly structured corporate environments. - Need extensive direction or oversight. - Dislike fast-changing priorities. - Prefer maintaining systems over building and improving them. How We Work - High ownership and accountability. - Fast-moving, low-bureaucracy environment. - Collaborative and solutions-oriented culture. - AI-assisted workflows and continuous improvement encouraged. - Strong preference for people who improve systems, not just maintain them. Benefits - Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision coverage. - 401(k) retirement framework to ensure long-term financial security. - Flexible Paid Time Off (PTO) and observed holidays to promote sustainable performance and balance. - Remote-first flexibility complemented by strategic home office infrastructure support.
