The Role in Brief: Director, Sales Engineer EAB seeks a Sales Engineer to join the EAB Partner Development team. EAB Sales Engineers drive partner development efforts by providing product and technical expertise and informing technology innovation to leading colleges and universities across the country. This Sales Engineer must be able to quickly develop expertise in EAB’s Student Success and Analytics products, data management and student customer relationship management (CRM) offerings, and exhibit or develop broad knowledge of higher education strategy and technology issues. As a Sales Engineer, you must share our passion about the value data and technology can bring to higher education institutions and the students they serve. This position is open to remote employment within the continental United States. This position is also posted at the Senior Director level; candidates are being considered at both levels for the current opening. Primary Responsibilities: Sales: Support Partner Development Executives (PDEs) through the entire sales process from pre-sales to close, conducting strategic discovery, technical requirements analysis, and presentation/demonstration of EAB products and services Basic Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college/university Must possess a minimum of 6 - 8+ years of experience in at least three of the following: Commercial experience, with a preference toward pre-sales, sales engineer, or similar roles representing SaaS products or technical offerings Higher education or ed-tech industry experience and expertise Implementing and/or maintaining enterprise-level technology solutions Proven presentation and facilitation skills in front of an executive level audience Ability to travel domestically 50-75%; valid U.S. driver’s license required Ideal Qualifications: Ability to conduct executive level presentations and facilitate group discussions Ability to demonstrate and communicate the value and ROI of technology offerings, drawing on subject matter expertise and work experience that will enhance credibility with prospective partners Business development and/or consultative sales experience, with preference for SaaS products Proven experience managing multiple competing priorities Experience with solution-focused problem solving Familiarity with higher education cloud-based platforms, technology, and/or basic data science and predictive modeling Commitment to embracing a continual learning environment and contributing to a dynamic and welcoming culture of fairness, authenticity, and belonging in support of EAB’s mission, values, and aspiration. Compensation: The anticipated starting salary (base) range for this role is $85,500 - $119,000 per year. Actual salary varies due to factors that may include but not be limited to relevant experience, skills, and location. At EAB, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the starting salary range for their role. This hire will additionally be eligible for discretionary bonus or incentive compensation. Variable compensation may depend on various factors, such as individual and organizational performance. Job Requirements
- Partner Engagement: Cultivate deep partner relationships through extraordinary presentation skills and the ability to establish trust with higher education leaders across a range of technical and non-technical audiences (including provosts, chief information officers, VPs of institutional research and effectiveness, and student success/advising leaders).
- Product/Technical Expertise: Have a working knowledge/proficiency of at least some of the following areas: cloud-based software as a service (SaaS) products (priority given for higher education platforms), strategic analytics, data management, data warehousing, data cleansing and transformation, business intelligence, and data security.
- Subject Matter Expertise: Serve as an ambassador for EAB products during remote and in-person campus presentations, webinars, and industry events, such as conferences and trade shows. Contribute to content creation (e.g., white papers, blogs) as appropriate.
- Market Insight: Keep current on industry trends in higher education technology, student success, and data and analytics and maintain a deep understanding of competitive and complementary technologies and vendors and how to position EAB in relation to them.
