Job Description: Adjunct faculty serve a vital role within the Law School and are valued members of the community. Under the guidance of the Assistant Dean for Academic and Faculty Affairs, adjunct faculty design and teach courses, facilitate course activities, provide students with timely feedback, and grade assignments and exams. Adjunct faculty are provided with professional learning opportunities and are invited to attend on-campus events. • Partner closely with two CSAA attorneys, assisting in the defense of insureds involved in litigation. • Handle personal injury defense matters with approximately 80% of caseload being auto in nature. • Legal file review and initial drafting of legal documents, such as discovery responses, trial documents, jury instructions, motions and other pleadings. • Responsible for calculating statutory deadlines and completing assignments in compliance with same. • Conduct legal research via electronic resources and in law libraries on a variety of legal issues involving civil procedure and personal injury. • Conduct insured client interviews for discovery purposes. • Assist attorney with preparation of evidence and works with retained experts for trial, arbitration, and mediation readiness. • Summarize plaintiff’s written discovery responses and follow-up on subpoenas. • Responsible for compliance with mandatory continuing legal education rules.
