• Responsible for supporting Product Owners, Product Managers, and development teams on delivering software applications that provide vessel performance, voyage management, and emissions insights that help ship owners make decisions which optimize their overall fuel consumption and reduce their carbon footprint. • Must be familiar with related industry standards such as MARPOL, ISO, EU ETS and IMO provided guidelines, and continue to remain up to date on latest additions/changes. • Able to identify and understand sources of vessel performance data – such as via LLI/AIS, vessel noon reports, sensor data, and voyage management system data - and translate into calculations that can provide vessel and fleet aggregated insights. • Support customer facing teams such as implementation services, customer success and sales when required to understand calculations requirements, and help customers continually improve their understanding of how their data is used to provide insights in our product. • Support product development through research and analysis of industry calculations, and convey the methodology required to derive values for the calculations which drive product features. • Support digital product delivery by ensuring technical standards on calculations are met and identify other sources of data in the industry which may be leveraged to provide further context to inform and improve insights. • Support the exploration and development of more complex analytics and insights opportunities such as predictive forecasting models.
Job Requirements
- 5-10 years of experience with ship mechanics and systems, ship hydrodynamics, vessel power generation and propulsion systems on vessel.
- 2+ years onshore experience of industry practice in vessel performance monitoring, voyage operations, and emission tracking.
- Comfortable analyzing and understanding industry relevant datasets to support domain knowledge transfer and troubleshooting with software development teams.
- Comfortable communicating industry domain knowledge in a clear and concise manner to a range of audiences from C-Suite to ground level teams and stakeholders.
- Experience working a range of different vessel types, trade, and chartering patterns is preferred.
- Prior experience with ship commercial operations and a solid understanding of chartering and ship management process is preferred.
- Familiarity with Azure DevOps and software development workflow is preferred.
- Familiarity with data visualization techniques is preferred.
- Technical skills in coding (SQL, python etc.) is preferred.
