• Lead efforts in designing and implementing a global backbone network infrastructure. • Play a key role in shaping the backbone while addressing complex issues in edge and MPLS routing. • Ensure scalability, reliability, and security across a multi-vendor environment. • Design, deploy, and maintain Akamai's massive-scale backbone while ensuring maximum network uptime and optimal traffic engineering. • Manage large-scale exterior BGP routing architectures, peering relationships, and transit provider configurations for fast data delivery. • Provision new backbone capacity, Private Network Interconnects (PNIs), and routers, while executing major infrastructure project implementations. • Write, test, and deploy network configuration changes using Akamai's automation framework across both lab and production environments. • Conduct deep protocol-level debugging in collaboration with hardware vendors to resolve highly complex network infrastructure issues. • Leverage network telemetry and internal databases to drive data-informed decisions regarding global network performance optimization. • Collaborate with network architecture, automation, infrastructure, and NOC teams to maintain high network availability and reliability.

Job Requirements

  • Have a High school / Bachelor Degree or its equivalent
  • Demonstrate 5+ of relevant experience with a background in Computer Science or equivalent practical expertise in the field.
  • Showcase practical expertise in BGP, IS-IS, MPLS, Traffic Engineering, and RSVP within a large service provider environment.
  • Scale Architecture: Display proven experience in IP network design and routing architecture at scale within ISPs, content providers, or CDNs.
  • Demonstrate exceptional communication abilities to foster trust and collaborate efficiently within a diverse, cross-functional international team.
  • Demonstrate expertise in service provider network methodologies through holding a JNCIP-SP certification or possessing equivalent knowledge in the field.

Role Description The Credentialing and Contracting Specialist is responsible for preparing and maintaining contracts and the contracts database system. Maintain active status for all providers by successfully completing initial and subsequent credentialing packages as required by state regulations, guidelines and policies. Role Description The Resident Engineer reports into the Global Services (GS) division of Networks as part of the Advanced Services (AS) team, typically dedicated to a single customer. Advanced Services is an additional support option, which requires the purchase of a support contract. Resident Engineers are expected to be fluent not only in networking technology and general networking, but also in the specific customer deployments and use cases they support. Resident Engineers are the primary technical support contact for customers that purchase Advanced Services, and work with the customer directly and daily.
