Job Description
Customer Marketing Manager
Workleap
• Own and drive customer marketing initiatives end-to-end, from identifying high-leverage cohorts to launching campaigns built on your messaging and creative directions; • Develop messaging and positioning for existing customers, with a particular focus on driving awareness and adoption of the Manager Agent among our existing base; • Build a content engine rooted in customer activity: surface stories, proof points, and product-in-action moments that feed back into the broader marketing system; • Carry new product and feature launches to the existing base, turning each release into adoption and deeper utilization of what customers already have; • Be the voice of the customer internally. Feed what you learn back to product, Customer Success, and marketing; • Collaborate with Customer Success and Sales to identify at-risk accounts, expansion opportunities, and customers ready for the next step — building the messaging, content, and plays that protect retention and drive upsell. • Design and execute engagement programs across owned channels (email, in-product, events, webinars) to turn happy customers into references and advocates. • Use AI to scale your output without compromising quality — automating what can be automated, moving faster, and elevating everything you produce above the generic AI baseline; • Track and report on commercial impact: deals influenced, expansion pipeline touched, and CSM-attributed activity driven by customer marketing.
Job Requirements
- 4+ years in customer marketing, product marketing, or a hybrid customer/PMM role in SaaS or tech;
- Proven ability to translate positioning into messaging and marketing campaigns, tailored to specific audiences;
- Track record of running marketing programs from conception to execution, shaping the idea, briefing creative, and shipping the work yourself when needed;
- Comfort with data to segment audiences, spot where customers stall, and measure what your programs return;
- Hands-on with HubSpot or a comparable CRM and marketing automation platform for segmentation, workflows, and performance tracking;
- Strong cross-functional program ownership, able to keep several initiatives moving at once;
- Fluent with AI as a practitioner, using it to do more and better work while keeping the output specific and sharp, never generic;
- Leading and owning customer marketing, setting direction for your own programs.
Benefits

The Role: The Developer Marketing Manager is building a new function with a clear thesis: the next wave of pipeline won't come from traditional SEO or paid search; it will come from how well Apryse shows up inside AI-generated answers, developer communities, and third-party technical channels. This is a rare early role: you'll help shape what developer-focused AEO (Answer Engine Optimization) looks like in practice: seeding technical content in the right communities, engaging authentically with developers, and ensuring Apryse is the answer when an LLM is asked “what’s the best PDF SDK for Python?” or “how do I add annotation to a React app?” Responsibilities: - Execute the AEO & off-page strategy across third-party developer channels — Stack Overflow, Reddit, GitHub Discussions, dev.to, Discord communities, and emerging AI-indexed surfaces. - Create and distribute genuinely useful technical content: code snippets, integration guides, tutorials, and answers that developers bookmark, not scroll past. - Engage in developer communities as a trusted voice for Aprysenot as a marketer, but as someone who understands the problems developers are solving with document and scanning SDKs. - Identify and build relationships with technical influencers, open-source contributors, and community moderators relevant to Apryse's ecosystem. - Monitor and grow Apryse's presence in LLM-generated answers and AI search surfaces, iterating on content strategy based on what's getting cited and why. - Collaborate with product, developer relations, and content teams to surface technical narratives and ensure Apryse's documentation and third-party footprint are aligned. - Track pipeline attribution from off-page and community activity —you'll be expected to connect your work to commercial outcomes, not just brand impressions. - Help refresh and evolve the Apryse developer brand across external channels, bringing a sharper, more developer-native voice to everything we put out. Skills: - You can "speak developer"- you understand the difference between a good code sample and a bad one, even if you're not writing production code yourself. - You're a hustler who's comfortable with grunt work: writing the 10th community post, tweaking the content angle again, doing the manual outreach. - You don't wait for scale before doing the work. - You're commercially minded. You know the difference between a campaign that built brand awareness and one that moved pipeline, and you care about the latter. - You're a strong written communicator who can adapt tone; from a precise technical answer on Stack Overflow to a punchy Reddit comment to a detailed integration guide. - You're self-directed and comfortable in a fast-moving, early-stage function where the playbook is still being written. Requirements: - 3–6 years in developer marketing, developer relations, technical content, or a closely adjacent role- ideally at a company that sells to engineers - A track record of creating technical content that developers actually engage with:tutorials, code walkthroughs, community posts, documentation, or similar. - Demonstrated experience building presence in developer communities —you've been in the trenches on Stack Overflow, GitHub, Discord, or similar, not just posting from a brand account. - Familiarity with AEO, GEO, or LLM-era content strategy is a strong plus; genuine curiosity about how AI answers are shaped isa must. - Experience in a developer tools, SDK, API, or infrastructure company is strongly preferred. SaaS-only backgrounds are unlikely to be a fit. Benefits: - Competitive salary commensurate with experience and qualifications. - A comprehensive extended benefits package including health, dental and vision for you and your family, with company paid offerings. - An uncapped commissions structure. - Generous paid time off (PTO) is offered to support the ability to rest and recharge. - A great team environment and resources, supporting you to do the best work of your life and providing unlimited career growth potential. - Highly autonomous and entrepreneurial environment. - Annual recurring WFH allowance for you to purchase items you need for your home office. - Ongoing support for learning development so you can master your craft. - Work with the hardware you're most comfortable with (Windows or Mac). - Diverse and inclusive workplace where we all learn from each other. Company Description As the industry-leading provider of document software development (SDK) technology powering everything from traditional desktop software to innovative web and mobile applications, at Apryse we are committed to delivering cutting-edge technology solutions that empower our clients to achieve their goals. With a broad international portfolio of combined companies, products, and leading technologies, we are actively changing the way the world works with documents to make work better and life simpler. Customers like IBM, Autodesk, DocuSign, Boeing, Microsoft (and many more!) come to us to realize their web and mobile strategies for document management, editing, and collaboration as the #1-ranked commercial document SDK of choice for companies worldwide. As a result, you can find our document technology in thousands of solutions, including those of household names, used by millions across virtually every industry. Our XODO app alone has 25M unique installs -- and counting -- and the highest ratings among PDF productivity apps on the largest online app marketplaces. Ready to join our team? If you are interested in helping Apryse deliver on its commitments and taking your career to the next level, we invite you to apply online now. Additionally, we view the above section as a guide, not a checklist. We welcome diverse and non-traditional backgrounds and encourage you to apply even if you do not have every requirement listed. The Role: Apryse builds document SDKs relied on by millions of developers. The question is no longer whether developers will use AI to find tools like ours, it’s whether Apryse shows up when they do. As Director of AEO & Developer Marketing, you’ll own Apryse’s presence across every surface where developers discover solutions: LLM-generated answers, coding assistants, AI search, developer communities, and third-party technical channels. It is time to build a repeatable playbook, earn credibility with a developer audience that can smell marketing from a mile away, and connect your work directly to pipeline. Not impressions. Not followers. Revenue. You’ll be a player-coach from day one: setting the strategy, doing the work yourself, and building the function around you as results come in. Responsibilities: - Own the AEO & GEO Strategy - Define and execute Apryse’s approach to Answer Engine Optimization and Generative Engine Optimization — the frameworks, the content types, the channels, and the feedback loops. - Monitor Apryse’s presence in LLM-generated answers and AI search surfaces (ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, GitHub Copilot, Cursor, and others) and systematically improve it. - Identify the queries that matter most — “best PDF SDK for Python”,“how do I redact text in a React app” — and engineer Apryse into the answer. - Build Developer Community Presence - Execute an off-page strategy across Stack Overflow, Reddit, GitHub Discussions, dev.to, Discord communities, and wherever Apryse’s buyers are asking questions. - Show up as a trusted voice, not a brand account. You understand developer problems well enough to answer them, not just point people at the docs. - Identify and cultivate relationships with technical influencers, open-source contributors, and community moderators relevant to Apryse’s ecosystem. - Create Technical Content That Gets Used - Produce and distribute code snippets, integration guides, tutorials, and answers that developers actually bookmark, cite, and share. - Collaborate with product, DevRel, and content teams to surface technical narratives and ensure Apryse’s documentation and third-party footprint are tightly aligned. - Refresh and evolve the Apryse developer brand voice across external channels — sharper, more developer-native, less corporate. Requirements: - 6–10 years in developer marketing, developer relations, technical content, or a closely adjacent role — ideally at a company that sells to engineers. - A demonstrable track record of building developer community presence from scratch or at meaningful scale — not managing a brand account, but being in the trenches. - Genuine fluency with AEO, GEO, and how LLMs surface and cite technical content. You’ve thought seriously about this, not just read the blog posts. - Experience in a developer tools, SDK, API, or infrastructure company is strongly preferred. SaaS-only backgrounds are unlikely to be a fit. - Prior people leadership or function-building experience is a plus; comfort operating as a senior IC with future hiring responsibility isa must. Skills & Mindset - You can speak developer. You know the difference between a good code sample and a bad one, even if you’re not writing production code yourself. - You’re commercially wired. You know the difference between work that built awareness and work that moved pipeline — and you care deeply about the latter. - You’re a builder who’s comfortable with grunt work: writing the 15th community answer, tweaking the content angle again, doing the manual outreach. You don’t wait for headcount before doing the work. - You’re a strong written communicator who can shift registers — precise technical answer on Stack Overflow, punchy Reddit comment, detailed integration guide, internal exec update. - You’re self-directed and energized by ambiguity. The playbook doesn’t fully exist yet. That excites you more than it worries you.
