Role Description Lumos is looking for a full-time OSP Project Engineer! If you’re an experienced FTTH design & construction engineering professional who’s excited for a fast-paced experience, ready to help us grow, and ready to recommend process changes that ensure we’re harnessing our technology to the best of our ability while broadening our ability to set up and maintain our service, we want to hear from you! As an OSP Project Engineer, you’ll: - Plan & prepare drawings for construction of new, overhead, or underground links, cables, & conduits. - Obtain optimum and economical utilization of communications facilities. - Select the most cost beneficial route for all lines and equipment for projects. - Ensure that our network expands throughout the regions we’re privileged to serve. Qualifications - Excellent interpersonal skills, as well as written and verbal communication skills. - Demonstrated project management experience. - Strong knowledge of OSHA rules, site safety, National Electric Safety Code (NESC) requirements, and associated construction and telecommunications federal and local regulations. - Proficient in MS Office; able to create reports, presentations, and project documentation. - Able to respond promptly, manage multiple tasks & customer needs, and prioritize progress toward deadlines in a fast-paced environment. - Working knowledge of all aspects of company processes including but limited to: - OSP construction; - Site preparation and permitting; - OSP testing and acceptance standards; - Creating design for local L2 and Transport architecture; - Google Earth and various fiber mapping platforms. Requirements - 5+ years’ technical experience working in OSP Engineering, Construction, or Operations. - High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate’s degree preferred. - Proactive, independent, and collaborative - takes initiative to keep on-task and on-target. - Fiber and telecommunications industry experience is essential, with a strong understanding of industry standards, technologies, & processes critical for success in the role. Role Description The Engineer is responsible for designing, programming, installing, and testing SCADA and plant control systems for solar, solar and storage, and other hybrid plants. The system must integrate multiple sub-systems of the renewable plant to meet the operational and regulatory needs of the owner and the grid operator. The Engineer will: - Develop and implement logic for complex custom applications. - Capture client requirements for the system. - Coordinate with clients and contractors. - Perform testing and develop HMI screens. - Ensure continuous improvement and operational excellence for controls and controls-related systems and equipment. - Aim for a zero-failure rate, eliminate single points of failure, and achieve aggressive targets for uptime and reliability. This position is nominally based in Perrysburg, Ohio, but the right candidate may be able to work remotely from other locations. Qualifications - Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Technology, or related field, preferably with controls major. - Ability to communicate with team members and business partners. - 2+ years of IEC 61131-3/PLC programming experience, including structured text and function blocks. - 2+ years of SCADA development, Ignition experience a plus. - Working knowledge of programming languages; Python a plus. - Experience in setting up virtual machines on physical servers. - IEC 61131-3, Ladder Logic, Function Blocks, and Structured Text. - Working knowledge of industrial protocols such as Modbus-TCP, DNP3, OPC-UA, IEC 61850, and ICCP. - Experience working on multiple projects simultaneously. - Been part of or led Continuous Improvement/Lessons Learned programs. - Must have permanent authorization to work in the United States. - Willingness to travel, 20-30%.
