• The Manager of Accounting & Tax will be responsible for overseeing daily accounting activities. • Ensuring compliance with tax regulations, and assisting in the preparation of accurate and timely financial statements & tax filings. • This role will work closely with senior management, external auditors, to ensure compliance with financial and tax reporting standards. • The position requires strong technical accounting and tax knowledge, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment. • Assists in the documentation process & preparation of SOPs.
Job Requirements
- Masters degree in Finance
- 8-10 years of experience in book close activities, tax returns with at least 6-7 years in a managerial or leadership role
- In-depth knowledge of tax laws, accounting standards, and regulatory requirements (e.g., GAAP, IFRS, corporate tax laws)
- Preferred prior experience in (e.g., OneSource, Salesforce, etc).
- Strong Accounting knowledge & prior experience in US Tax domain or insurance industry
- Strong Communication, demonstrating attention to detail, excellent analytical skills and competent at logical reasoning
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities effectively.
- Proven ability to manage cross-functional teams and work collaboratively with senior leadership.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate with various stakeholders.
- Strong organizational, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.

Role Description We are looking for our first dedicated tax lead. You will build up the tax function from the ground up and partner closely with Finance, People, Legal, and executive leadership, while managing a complex and evolving global tax landscape. From daily compliance to long-term strategic tax planning, the work you own will have company-wide impact. You bring a strong technical tax foundation, work well cross-functionally, and have sharp judgment about what you own directly versus when to bring in outside expertise. What you’ll do - Indirect tax: Build and manage sales & use tax, VAT/GST, and digital-services tax compliance, including nexus analysis across our growing customer footprint. - Income tax compliance and provision: Support the ASC 740 provision and the federal, state, and international income tax filings with external preparers, building the close-cycle processes, documentation, and controls to match company scale. - Payroll accounting & operations: Own payroll reconciliation, flux analysis, and related journal entries, partnering with Finance and the People team to ensure accuracy across pay runs and periods. - Payroll and employment tax: Advise on employer tax obligations across jurisdictions, relying on external advisors as needed; partnering with the People team on payroll withholding and operations, leaning on external advisors where needed. - Equity compensation: Manage the tax treatment and compliance for employee equity options, and collaborating with Legal as needed on equity-related tax topics. - Strategic tax planning: Identify opportunities to optimize Runway's global effective tax rate (including R&D tax credits, transfer pricing, and more) as international operations scale. • Provide strategic and operational tax management of the mobility program including tax equalization policy, and corporate and statutory tax compliance • Develop, implement, and govern mobility tax strategy worldwide • Partner with external tax vendor to administer global tax compliance for cross border assignments • Team with corporate tax functions, such as transfer pricing, international tax, and indirect tax, to ensure compliance globally • Support global audit requests and disclosures • Manage permanent establishment risk • Manage all tax compliance of Global Employment Organization • Govern intercompany and secondment agreements between entities supporting international assignments • Design and govern deployment methods for different mobility types that meet business needs and minimize risk • Develop best practices for key global tax processes such as short-term business travelers and remote workers • Partner with other departments such as Payroll; Controllership; Government Accounting; Finance; Legal, Contracts & Compliance; and Human Resources to ensure success of the mobility program • Ensure employee and corporate compliance with new tax legislative and regulatory requirements • Be a strategic partner and expert advisor to the business unit managers and HR leaders that enable and support international employee mobility • Identify opportunities for program and process enhancements to achieve greater consistency, compliance and operational improvement • Act as the escalation point for any tax issues and/or concerns raised by assignees, business managers and vendors
