Title: Associate Director of Medical Operations Location: United States Job Description: Location: Hybrid + Travel, California, United StatesAssociate Director of Medical Operations Ethos Veterinary Health Reports To: Director of Medical Operations Position Summary: The Associate Director of Medical Operations (ADMO) is a strategic and medical leadership role responsible for the medical quality, performance, development, and engagement of the DVM teams across a portfolio of hospitals. The ADMO will report to the Director of Medical Operations and will act as the direct link from Ethos medical leadership to the local medical teams. The ADMO partners with the Sr. Division Leader, Operational Support Manager, Hospital Directors, and local Medical Directors to drive financial success through operational efficiencies and high-quality medicine. The ADMO supports Medical Directors in the region to ensure delivery of high-quality, evidence-based medicine while aligning medical initiatives with organizational goals. The ADMO serves as a coach, mentor, and resource for hospital-level MDs and is instrumental in driving a culture of clinical excellence, patient safety, and team wellbeing. - MEDICAL INITIATIVES - Provides feedback and coaching to Medical Directors to provide the highest level of care for clients and patients. - Responsible for overseeing the development and maintenance of medical policies and medical SOP's for the hospitals. - Provides feedback and coaching to Medical Directors and DVMs to ensure quality client experience - Facilitate rounds cadence and participation; could include daily transfer rounds, mortality and morbidity as well as continuing education discussions. - Supports network wide safety and quality improvement initiatives. - Supports Ethos initiatives - Discovery and Science, implementing house officer programs - TEAM DEVELOPMENT - Meet monthly with each Medical Director in the region to establish and review operational goals and financial opportunities. - Encouraged to participate in the meetings when appropriate. - Provides recommendations to the hospital leadership team for new DVM contracts and contract renewals. - Advises Hospital Leadership Team on DVM efficiencies and collaborates with the Hospital Director to support staff efficiencies, scheduling and training opportunities. - Participates in goal setting and strategy to address engagement of the medical team. - Provides feedback to Medical Directors regarding initiatives to retain high caliber talent. - Advocate for Hospitals to participate in clinical trials through Ethos Science and Discovery. - Under owning business I added Oversees as site Medical Director in absence of medical director (highlight in red below) - RECRUITING - Ensure Hospital Leadership Team is providing a high quality candidate experience. - Encourage and promotes internal referrals for DVM recruiting. - Assist hospital leadership teams with DVM employment agreements. - Owns recruiting for Medical Directors at the site level in partnership with Sr. Division Leader - OWNING BUSINESS - Support Medical Director in strategic pricing to meeting overall annual price increase goal while maintaining competitive position in the market. - Provide input on laystaff labor opportunities where appropriate. - Oversees as site Medical Director in absence of Medical Director - Participate in renovation, expansion and denovo projects within the region when needed. - Guide hospital leadership team in management of rDVM relations. - Participate in Ethos enterprise initiatives. - COMMUNICATION - Assist Medical Directors with medically related client complaints as needed to achieve an equitable, timely resolution. - Assure resolution is achieved to maintain a positive relationship for the hospital. - Review DVM board complaints and lawsuits to assure timely management by Hospital Leadership team and Legal team involvement. - Coach the Medical Director to achieve superior client communication by DVM team. - REGULATORY COMPLIANCE - Assure compliance with controlled drug policy. - Ensure medicine is provided in compliance with Federal, State and regulatory requirements. Qualifications: - DVM or VMD degree required. - Minimum 7 years clinical practice experience, with 2+ years in a hospital medical leadership role. - Experience overseeing multiple sites or managing other medical leaders strongly preferred. - Demonstrated success in driving medical quality, team engagement, and operational outcomes. - Excellent communication, coaching, and conflict resolution skills. - Strong business acumen with the ability to interpret financial data and implement performance strategies. - Ability to travel between sites in the Bay area and visit the hospital in Santa Barbara approx every 8 weeks.
