Special Education Teacher
Connections Academy
• Manage and provide instructional guidance and virtual teaching for students with special needs • Develop, write and help implement IEPs and 504 plans • Evaluate tests and assessments, complete report cards and conduct parent conferences • Communicate regularly with parents/learning coaches to ensure that IEP goals are met • Consult with teachers to implement specially designed instruction defined in the IEP • Provide direct services to students via web-conferencing software • Schedule and conduct IEP related meetings in a virtual environment • Participate in the school’s Student Support Team • Assist with organization and implementation of paperwork for the IEP process • Help with locating service providers for students requiring related services
Job Requirements
- Degree in Special Education or related Education Field
- Valid South Carolina Special Education certification
- Additional certification in a core content area preferred
- Experience in policy (IDEA) and/or administration with Special Education
- Strong technology skills (especially with Microsoft Office products)
- Excellent communication skills, both oral and written
- Customer focused approach
- High degree of flexibility
- Demonstrated ability to work well in fast paced environment
- Team player track record
- Willingness to travel on occasion for marketing and state testing events
