Job Description As a Senior Backend Engineer on the team, you'll have a key role in developing our Payroll product and its unique features, working closely with our Product team. You are passionate about software engineering and building a product end-to-end. You will be responsible for owning the dev cycle from the technical design, through coding and testing, to deployment and monitoring. We are an agentic-first company. We work in a true continuous delivery environment with fully automated QA processes on a microservices architecture, deploying to production dozens of times every day. Base salary for this role ranges from $148,000 - $189,000 CAD per year. Job Requirements - Physically located in the Toronto metropolitan area. - 6+ years of professional experience as a software engineer, strongly emphasizing backend development for SaaS applications. - Experience building and owning customer-facing features that have shipped to production. - Excellent knowledge of software design and scalable architecture. - Experience with Java and/or Kotlin. - Experience with testing methodologies - unit-testing, TDD, mocking, etc. - Experience with AWS or an equivalent cloud platform. - Experience with relational databases like PostgreSQL, MySQL, etc. - Independent, fast learner, and excited about learning new technologies. - Proactive team player with a desire to impact our team, our product, and our customers. Job Responsibilities - Design, develop, and maintain highly scalable back-end systems for our Payroll product using a modern microservices architecture. - Collaborate with product managers, front-end engineers, and other stakeholders to implement new features and ensure alignment with the overall product roadmap. - Write clean, maintainable, and efficient code in Kotlin, Scala, or Java (or be eager to learn Kotlin). - Build and optimize APIs to support seamless integrations across our platform. - Participate in code reviews and provide constructive feedback to team members. - Take ownership of the full development cycle, including technical design, implementation, testing, deployment, and monitoring. - Work in a continuous delivery environment with automated QA processes to ensure robust and reliable releases. • Procesar la nómina de principio a fin para México utilizando SAP, incluyendo: Pagos de salario regulares, Tiempo extra (horas extra), Bonos, comisiones y pago variable, Finiquitos (Liquidaciones finales). • Garantizar el cumplimiento con el IMSS, INFONAVIT, ISR y otras autoridades estatutarias. • Mantener y conciliar cuentas relacionadas con la nómina; asegurar la precisión de los resultados de la nómina en SAP. • Proporcionar, revisar y validar los datos de entrada de la nómina (nuevas contrataciones, bajas/terminaciones, cambios de compensación, licencias/ausencias, etc.). • Revisar los resultados proporcionados por el proveedor de nómina subcontratado (outsourced). • Coordinar con Recursos Humanos, Finanzas y proveedores externos para asegurar la exactitud e integridad de la nómina.

• Execute and iterate on the Payroll Operations roadmap that will result in automation, standardization, and centralization of HR processes and systems. • Perform the collection, calculation, and entering of payroll data. • Address employee questions/concerns relative to pay and time and attendance. • Update payroll records and prepare payroll reports. • Contribute to the development and documentation of repeatable and scalable payroll processes and employee-facing guidelines and procedures. • Work with Accounting to maintain accurate job costing and G/L records. • Produce and analyze employee data reports. • Manage administration of payroll tax accounts, filings, and new account openings. • Balance taxes from Workday to ADP. • Balance and file quarterly taxes. • Validate and reconcile tax rates. • Produce and analyze company tax reports. • Maintain the integrity and confidentiality of human resource records, forms, files, and policies. • Assist employees with general People Payroll questions and ensure exceptional customer service. • Support employee onboarding and offboarding processes and support coordination.
