Senior VMware/Openshift Engineer
SS&C Technologies
• Install, configure, and maintain OpenShift clusters on-premises • Monitor cluster performance and troubleshoot issues to ensure optimal operation • Manage user access and permissions within the OpenShift environment • Implement and manage CI/CD pipelines to automate application deployment • Work with development teams to optimize applications running on OpenShift • Create and maintain documentation related to OpenShift configurations and procedures • Stay updated with the latest OpenShift and Kubernetes features and best practices • Collaborate with security teams to implement best security practices for containerized applications • Conversions from VMware to OpenShift • Ability to Manage a VMware environment
Job Requirements
- Hands-on experience with OpenShift Virtualization (KubeVirt), including running and managing VM workloads on Kubernetes (not limited to container orchestration)
- Strong experience with VMware (vSphere/ESXi) in hybrid environments
- Proven production experience with VM migration tooling (e.g., MTV or virt-v2v)
- Experience deploying and operating OpenShift Virtualization on bare metal
- Production use of GitOps (Argo CD or Flux) for cluster and VM manifest management
- Experience with observability stacks: Prometheus, Grafana, Loki, Splunk
- Working knowledge of CI/CD pipelines supporting infrastructure/platform delivery
- Strong understanding of networking and storage in containerized and virtualized environments
- Strong troubleshooting, problem-solving, and cross-team collaboration skills
- Red Hat certification: EX316 (OpenShift Virtualization) or EX280 (OpenShift Administration) (preferred)
- VMware certification: VCP-DCV or VCAP (preferred)
- Experience with VMware → OpenShift Virtualization (KubeVirt) migration or modernization initiatives (preferred)
- Deeper familiarity with KubeVirt architecture and VM lifecycle on Kubernetes (preferred)
