Director, Customer Engineering

Fleet Data Centers

• Serve as the key technical point of contact for the assigned account, fully owning the relationship • Become fluent in the customer's organizational chart, understanding both the technical goals and the internal dynamics of key decision-makers • Develop and produce the product definition associated with the lease for new opportunities • Act as the primary point of entry for post-lease Engineering Change Requests (ECRs), coordinating with the customer and internal Fleet engineering teams to bridge new requirements • Manage and qualify customer needs by effectively reviewing requests and separating critical "must-haves" from "nice-to-haves" • Attain fluency in the capacity needs of the assigned account, working seamlessly with the customer and internal engineering to develop tailored solutions • Partner with Tract and TCM Behind-the-Meter (BTM) teams, as well as engineering Technical Program Management (TPM) teams, to align delivery solutions and timelines with customer expectations • Collaborate across customer engineering domains (compute, GPU, storage, and networking) to align the delivery solution for fit-out with end-customer objectives • Serve as the internal advocate for the customer, providing continuous feedback to the business on evolving customer needs and assisting Fleet leadership in adapting the product roadmap

Job Requirements

  • BS in a technical field strongly preferred (Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Civil Engineering)
  • 10+ years in a technical function, with a proven track record of influencing technical direction and developing solutions
  • Must be fluent in AI data center design and development
  • Strong understanding of permitting, data center design, operations, power delivery for AI data centers, and both liquid and air-cooling strategies
  • Understanding of AI workloads and network architecture to effectively anticipate needs and advocate from the customer's perspective

Role Description At Trinetix we are looking for a Senior Transmission Implementation Engineer to join our Transmissions team, supporting the build, expansion, and optimization of Arelion's optical transport network. The ideal candidate will have proven experience with DWDM infrastructure, optical line systems, and transponder platforms, along with a strong ability to commission, migrate, and manage transmission equipment. As part of the Transmissions team, you will work closely with internal teams and external vendors to ensure reliable and timely delivery of network capacity, while maintaining high standards of documentation and service quality. - Network Implementation: Lead the implementation of the Arelion Optical Transport Network, ensuring delivery within agreed lead times. - Installation & Commissioning: Oversee installation, commissioning, testing, and service turn-up of optical transmission equipment. - DWDM Migrations: Perform DWDM link migrations in coordination with onsite technicians, including activities outside standard working hours when required. - EoL Platform Migration: Execute migration of services from platforms approaching end-of-life (EoL). - Collaboration: Work closely with internal teams on network expansion, optimization initiatives, and decommissioning of legacy equipment. - Vendor Coordination: Work with external vendors to support successful delivery, installation, and commissioning of DWDM systems. - Logistics: Provide logistics coordination for equipment shipments between warehouses and deployment sites. - Documentation: Ensure accurate and high-quality documentation across all relevant systems and tools. - Stakeholder Engagement: Participate in regular deployment and progress meetings with vendors and stakeholders. Qualifications - 5+ years' experience within a telecommunications company covering Plan, Build, and Operate functions. - Proven experience working as a DWDM Network Engineer within a telecommunications environment. - Extensive configuration and troubleshooting experience with Infinera 7300, Infinera FlexILS, Nokia GX, Ciena 6500, and Ciena 6500 RLS. - Hands-on experience with Infinera Groove G30, Nokia GX, and Ciena ELS. - Experience with Ciena WL5e and WL6e (C-band and L-band), and Nokia CHM6 and CHM7 series (C-band and L-band variants). - Experience supporting remote installations of transponders and shelves together with onsite technicians; ability to guide onsite technicians remotely during installations and troubleshooting. - Good understanding of fibre infrastructure, including cable routing and ODF connectivity within data centre environments. - Proven capability to commission and turn up DWDM services. - Experience supporting spectrum migration activities. - Strong documentation skills, including maintaining network inventory systems. - Ability to clearly communicate project status and progress to internal stakeholders. - Up-to-date knowledge of current transmission technologies and industry best practices.
