Virtual Care Clinical Therapist - Urgent Care - Mental Health & Addictions

Role Description Reporting to the Manager of Urgent Care Services - Mental Health & Addictions, the Urgent Care Clinician provides advanced assessment, intervention, brief follow-up, and care planning for crisis/urgent care clients across the lifespan, with the goal of stabilization and connection to necessary Mental & Addictions services as required. The majority of consults are from the Emergency Department but may also come from other services or departments both internal and external to Nova Scotia Health. This position will be providing virtual (via phone/zoom) liaison mental health crisis support to western zone emergency/urgent care departments. This is a work from home opportunity and applicants can reside in any location throughout Nova Scotia. Qualifications - Master’s Degree in a health-related field such as Social Work, Nursing, Occupational Therapy, Clinical Therapy, or Psychology is required. - Consideration may be given to other Masters health-related disciplines, with a clinical undergrad, based on demonstrated equivalencies. - Registered (or eligible) for licensure with appropriate provincial licensing body. - Two (2) years' clinical experience specific to Mental Health & Addictions; preference will be given to applicants with experience in conducting crisis response/urgent care risk assessments and consultation services in Emergency Departments and/or mobile crisis in the community. - Non-Violent Crisis Intervention (NVCI). - Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS). - Experience with or application of DSM. - Demonstrate strong skills in conducting mental status exams, focused on comprehensive assessment, and risk assessments. - Knowledge of legislation and responsibilities related to Involuntary Psychiatric Treatment Act (IPTA), Provincial Access Navigations Standards and Policies, Children & Family Services Act, Adult Protection Act, and applicable NSH policies & standards. - Competencies in other languages an asset, French preferred. Requirements - Permanent full-time position; 75 hours bi-weekly. - Shifts include evening, weekends, and holidays. Role Description The (Senior) Medical Science Liaison, Northern NJ role is a field-based, customer-facing, non-promotional medical and scientific position. The MSL’s key objective is to create impact through advancing clinical practice within the assigned territory that leads to improved patient outcomes. The MSL serves as a scientific expert in HIV treatment and prevention, understands territory and market influences, engages scientifically with Healthcare Providers (HCPs) and medical experts, manages and develops their territory, and executes all relevant activities in alignment with the medical strategic plan. The MSL will inform and shape medical strategy through application of a curious mindset to collect impactful and actionable insights to drive the development and commercialization of our products.
