Role Description This Research Assistant position is with Dr. Andrea Patey, Knowledge Translation / Implementation Scientist in the Department of Medicine, Quality and Safety and involves providing administrative and research support. Working in the area of implementation Science: specifically, but not exclusively, de-implementation science and resource stewardship, the Research Assistant will be involved in de-implementation research activities to determine whether implementation (starting a new evidence-based clinical behaviour) and de-implementation (stopping an ineffective or harmful practice) are distinct processes that require different intervention strategies. Further, the position will support the development of the DRIVE (De-implementation Research to ImproVe quality of care) Centre, a research centre aimed at advancing the science of de-implementation. Under the supervision of Dr. Patey, the Research Assistant will also have the opportunity to work with organizations like Choosing Wisely Canada, Choosing Wisely Nova Scotia, and Choosing Wisely at IWK to move beyond education and awareness toward developing and testing interventions that reduce clinical overuse and harm and improve care quality. - Assist with project planning, research ethics submissions, literature reviews, data collection, and dissemination activities for research projects. - Provide administrative and research support. - Knowledge translation/mobilization activities, such as reports, conference presentations. - Processes and submits forms to Research Ethics Board (REB) as required. - Conduct literature searches. - Assists with drafting research reports and publication materials. - Participate in the development of project, including identifying and recommending opportunities for efficiency and effectiveness. - Assist with creation and/or modification of presentations, posters or other dissemination materials. Qualifications - A Master’s degree in a health-related discipline, or Bachelor’s degree with equivalent experience. - Previous experience conducting knowledge syntheses using COVIDENCE and MEDLINE. - Previous experience in a research environment considered an asset. - Strong computer skills (Microsoft Office Suite, Internet, videoconference software). - Ability to develop agendas, background materials, and minutes for meetings. - Effective communication, interpersonal, and active listening skills. - Strong organizational and project management skills. - Ability to function independently yet collaboratively within a team. - Openness to learning about the importance of partnering with people with lived experience in research. - Understand importance and demonstrate ability to foster a culture of Equity, Diversity, Inclusion and Accessibility. Provincial Manager, Psychosocial Oncology

Role Description The Manager, Provincial Psychosocial Oncology Program, Palliative and Spiritual Care (Oncology) will lead the development of a Provincial Psychosocial Oncology Program within the NSCCP and will serve as the oncology liaison to the palliative and spiritual care portfolios. The Manager works in a co-leadership role with a clinical co-lead. The Manager develops, implements, manages and evaluates a provincial program to ensure equitable and appropriate access of cancer patients and families to psychosocial, palliative and spiritual care services and supports according to evidence-informed guidelines and policies developed by Cancer Site Teams and the Provincial Psychosocial Oncology Program in Nova Scotia. The Manager assists with knowledge development and translation, ensures that data and systems are in place to support appropriate utilization and effective stewardship of psychosocial, palliative and spiritual care resources for cancer patients and families. The Manager collaborates with other portfolios with Nova Scotia Health, IWK and with community partners as appropriate in order to deliver a quality, sustainable program. Role Description Reporting to the Manager of Urgent Care Services - Mental Health & Addictions, the Urgent Care Clinician provides advanced assessment, intervention, brief follow-up, and care planning for crisis/urgent care clients across the lifespan, with the goal of stabilization and connection to necessary Mental & Addictions services as required. The majority of consults are from the Emergency Department but may also come from other services or departments both internal and external to Nova Scotia Health. This position will be providing virtual (via phone/zoom) liaison mental health crisis support to western zone emergency/urgent care departments. This is a work from home opportunity and applicants can reside in any location throughout Nova Scotia. Qualifications - Master’s Degree in a health-related field such as Social Work, Nursing, Occupational Therapy, Clinical Therapy, or Psychology is required. - Consideration may be given to other Masters health-related disciplines, with a clinical undergrad, based on demonstrated equivalencies. - Registered (or eligible) for licensure with appropriate provincial licensing body. - Two (2) years' clinical experience specific to Mental Health & Addictions; preference will be given to applicants with experience in conducting crisis response/urgent care risk assessments and consultation services in Emergency Departments and/or mobile crisis in the community. - Non-Violent Crisis Intervention (NVCI). - Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS). - Experience with or application of DSM. - Demonstrate strong skills in conducting mental status exams, focused on comprehensive assessment, and risk assessments. - Knowledge of legislation and responsibilities related to Involuntary Psychiatric Treatment Act (IPTA), Provincial Access Navigations Standards and Policies, Children & Family Services Act, Adult Protection Act, and applicable NSH policies & standards. - Competencies in other languages an asset, French preferred. Requirements - Permanent full-time position; 75 hours bi-weekly. - Shifts include evening, weekends, and holidays.
