Role Description McKesson is seeking a Strategic Business Consultant . The Strategic Business Consultant (P3) is responsible for independently managing small-to-medium strategic initiatives and supporting larger programs within the PMO portfolio. This role leads cross-functional project delivery end-to-end, ensuring outcomes are achieved within scope, budget, and timeline while building strong stakeholder relationships and maintaining execution discipline. The Consultant operates with minimal day-to-day oversight and applies a structured, consultative approach to analyze business processes, identify improvement opportunities, and recommend practical solutions aligned to business goals. This role plays a key part in driving consistent execution, managing risks, and advancing Agile/SAFe delivery practices within the organization. Key Responsibilities - Project / Delivery Execution - Independently manage multiple small-to-medium projects or workstreams within larger initiatives. - Plan, organize, and execute projects from initiation through delivery with limited oversight. - Ensure delivery is completed on time, within scope, and aligned to defined outcomes. - Develop and maintain project plans, milestones, and deliverables. - Manage scope, timelines, and execution activities across assigned projects. - Execution Discipline & Agile Delivery - Apply established PMO standards and Agile/SAFe methodologies to drive structured delivery. - Facilitate core agile ceremonies (standups, sprint planning, retrospectives). - Track progress and ensure consistent reporting across assigned projects. - Contribute to continuous improvement of delivery practices and execution rigor. - Risk & Dependency Management - Proactively identify project-level risks and issues and recommend mitigation strategies. - Manage dependencies within each assigned project independently. - Escalate risks and issues appropriately while driving resolution where possible. - Stakeholder Management & Communication - Independently manage stakeholders at the project level. - Provide clear, consistent project communications and status updates. - Build strong working relationships with cross-functional business and technical partners. - Own project-level messaging and support alignment across stakeholders. - Leadership & Team Contribution - Lead project teams and coordinate cross-functional contributors. - Establish accountability and build trust within project teams. - Serve as a primary point of contact for project execution. - Act as a strong individual contributor while leading delivery. - Strategic Thinking & Consultative Approach - Understand how projects connect to broader business objectives. - Translate business needs into actionable project and process solutions. - Provide recommendations to improve processes, systems, and delivery approaches. - Support business partners through structured analysis and problem-solving. - Problem Solving - Independently resolve project-level issues and challenges. - Apply structured thinking to identify root causes and recommend solutions. - Contribute ideas for continuous improvement within projects. Qualifications - Degree or equivalent and typically requires 4+ years of relevant experience. - Bachelor’s degree in business, healthcare, technical, or related field (or equivalent experience). Requirements - Typically requires 4–6 years of relevant experience in project management, consulting, or related field. - Experience managing multiple concurrent small to medium projects with increasing autonomy. - Strong understanding of project management fundamentals (scope, timeline, risk, dependencies). - Working knowledge of Agile and/or SAFe methodologies. - Strong stakeholder management and communication skills. - Analytical skills with ability to solve project-level problems. - Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. - Ability to operate independently with minimal day-to-day oversight. Preferred Skills - Experience in supply chain, operations, or healthcare environment. - Exposure to process improvement methodologies (Lean, Six Sigma). - Experience working with cross-functional teams and business/IT partners. - Familiarity with project management tools and process mapping. Working Environment - Ability to travel 5-10% of the time. - Must be authorized to work in the US unrestricted – This position is not eligible for sponsorship. Benefits - Competitive compensation package as part of our Total Rewards. - Pay range: $89,000 - $148,400. - Other compensation, such as an annual bonus or long-term incentive opportunities may be offered.
