Job Description

Lead Product Designer, Applied AI

Creyos (formerly Cambridge Brain Sciences)

About Us Circle is building the world’s leading all-in-one platform for online communities. We make it possible for creators, coaches, educators, and businesses to bring together their audience with engaging discussions, live streams, events, chat, courses, and payments — all in one place, all under their own brand. We’re proud to be a fully remote company of around 200 (and growing!) team members from 30+ countries around the world. We seek exceptional individuals around the world, set them up to do the best work of their lives, and in turn, create a meaningful impact in their own lives. We don't track hours, but we do manage for high expectations very closely. We collaborate across time zones, are highly async, and like to document a lot. Twice a year, we bring the whole company together in beautiful places around the world for our company offsites. So far, we’ve hosted offsites in Turkey, Portugal, Mexico, Thailand, Colombia, Italy, Ireland, and more, with still more to come! Check out our Careers page for more about working at Circle. About the role We're looking for a Lead Product Designer for Applied AI at Circle. You'll design AI-native experiences—agents that act on behalf of community managers, workflows that reduce manual work, and a copilot that helps creators run their communities more effectively. You'll work with our Applied AI engineering team to turn AI capabilities into real workflows and product experiences for our customers. You'll own the design direction for Applied AI surfaces across Circle. These aren't typical product design challenges. You'll make AI behavior legible, build trust in non-deterministic systems, and give users meaningful control without overwhelming them. You'll shape how creators and AI collaborate inside Circle. You'll be joining a design team where context is shared openly, ownership is real, and talented people are trusted to do their best work. What you’ll be doing Own the design strategy for Applied AI surfaces, from discovery through shipped experiences Provide thought leadership for Applied AI at Circle: stay on top of AI and UX trends and drive our direction in this area Operate with high autonomy: you identify opportunities, frame the problem, and drive from 0→1 with minimal guidance Act as a peer to Product and Engineering on product decisions, not just a downstream executor Design end-to-end AI experiences—from initial concept to launch—including agents, workflows, and copilot features Define patterns for AI-assisted and AI-automated actions: triggering, monitoring, correcting, and building user trust Tackle novel UX problems around transparency, control, and error handling for unpredictable systems Prototype and test AI-powered flows and interactions quickly with users Collaborate closely with engineers and design engineers using Cursor and Claude Code to turn your concepts into working experiences Work embedded with engineering and ML teams, iterating as capabilities evolve What you’ll need to be successful Strong alignment with our values, find our values on our career page if you haven’t read up on them yet. You are proficient in English (spoken, written, and reading) at a CEFR Level C2 / ILR Level 5. 6+ years of product design experience with a strong portfolio demonstrating UX and visual craft You already use AI deeply in your design work today—you can explain concretely how AI is integrated into your workflows (research, exploration, prototyping, content, visuals) Hands-on experience with AI-assisted prototyping tools (e.g., v0, Lovable, Cursor + Claude Code) Experience designing AI-powered tools, conversational interfaces, automation systems, or similarly complex products Strong prototyping skills—you build clickable, realistic prototypes yourself, not just static screens Proficiency in Figma for high-fidelity design and collaboration Exceptional written and verbal communication skills—able to clearly explain complex ideas, influence decisions, and align teams asynchronously Comfortable designing in ambiguity and solving problems without existing patterns Attention to detail that results in polished, shippable work $140,000 - $170,000 USD per year We are hiring at a Lead level for this role; however, we may consider offering this position at the Senior level depending on a candidate’s experience level alignment with the role. In either case, the offer would fall within the published compensation range. The fun stuff Fully remote: work from anywhere in the world! Autonomy and trust to do your job: we care about outcomes over everything else. Paid time away: all employees are given 35 days of PTO annually. We also offer a paid sabbatical after 5 years. Generous U.S. benchmarked compensation and startup equity no matter where you are in the world.* Awesome medical coverage with 100% coverage for you and your family, or medical reimbursement options where applicable!* Parental leave for parents expanding their family, or just starting one. Home office stipend to help you get up and running. Learning & development stipend to help you level up your professional skills. Annual bonus potential for roles that don't already receive variable income or commission. Company retreats: Twice a year, the Circle team gets together for a fully paid company retreat in incredible places around the world! We’ve had past retreats in Colombia, Portugal, and Mexico, with more planned on the horizon. Check out our Careers page for more. * Your role, location and unique circumstance may affect this. Candidate Safety & Interview Process Notice At Circle, the safety and trust of our candidates is extremely important to us. Unfortunately, recruiting fraud is increasingly common in the job market, and bad actors sometimes impersonate companies or employees. To help protect you, here’s what you can expect from our hiring process: How Our Process Works All applications are submitted through our official applicant tracking system (Greenhouse). If selected to move forward, you may be invited to record a short introductory video, or directly into a live interview. All live interviews are conducted face-to-face over video (Zoom or Google Meet) with a member of the Circle team. We do not conduct text-only interviews. We do not conduct interviews via chat apps or messaging platforms. We do not use AI bots to interview candidates. Official Communication Channels All official communication from Circle will come from no-reply@circle.co, or an email address ending in @circle.co or @circle.so. We will never contact you from unofficial domains (such as “.team”, “.careers”, or similar variations). We will never request sensitive personal information early in the process, or ask for payment of any kind. If you receive a suspicious message claiming to be from Circle, please do not respond. We appreciate your vigilance, and look forward to connecting with you through our official channels. Diversity, Equity & Inclusion As a fully-remote international company, diversity is baked into our DNA. Here’s how our CEO, Sid Yadav, frames our hiring mission: “let’s find talent in underserved and under-represented corners of the world, set them up to do the best work of their lives, and in turn, change their life.” To achieve this hiring mission, we offer competitive U.S. benchmarked compensation no matter where someone’s located in the world, and we proactively seek candidates who expand representation of backgrounds, cultures and lived experiences in our teams. Since we opened our doors in 2009, the world of commerce has evolved immensely, and so has Square. After enabling anyone to take payments and never miss a sale, we saw sellers stymied by disparate, outmoded products and tools that wouldn't work together. So we expanded into software and started building integrated, omnichannel solutions - to help sellers sell online, manage inventory, offer buy now, pay later functionality, book appointments, engage loyal buyers, and hire and pay staff. Across it all, we've embedded financial services tools at the point of sale, so merchants can access a business loan and manage their cash flow in one place. Afterpay furthers our goal to provide omnichannel tools that unlock meaningful value and growth, enabling sellers to capture the next generation shopper, increase order sizes, and compete at a larger scale. Today, we are a partner to sellers of all sizes - large, enterprise-scale businesses with complex operations, sellers just starting, as well as merchants who began selling with Square and have grown larger over time. As our sellers grow, so do our solutions. There is a massive opportunity in front of us. We're building a significant, meaningful, and lasting business, and we are helping sellers worldwide do the same. The Role The Local Services team builds for the needs of sellers who sell their time and expertise. We ensure that our products are remarkable for Services, the largest seller base by count and GPV for Square. This team looks after the largest non-POS surfaces for Square including Invoices, Appointments and Virtual Terminal to help them from first inquiry to booking to payment to re-engagement with a customer. We're looking for a designer with deep reserves of curiosity, optimism, and taste to partner closely with design, product and engineering talent on our team and across the company. You're at home when cutting through complexity, embodying the voice of the seller, and inspiring others through your vision of what's possible. As one of the most senior designers on the team, you'll lead bigger projects from vision to shipped product, while raising the bar of execution and ambition. You Will Collaborate with Designers, Product Managers, Engineers, and Data Scientists to shape a vision and roadmap that up-levels the quality of the product experience for our customers Propose design and product opportunities, promote them across the organization, and own projects from concept through release Promote design excellence through mentorship, feedback, and knowledge sharing Maintain a principled, customer-centric approach throughout each project, using data, insights, and experience to inform decisions Experiment with new design tools, methodologies, and approaches to improve the design process and inspire creativity Foster a culture of experimentation and creativity, and build connections across teams and disciplines You Have 12+ years of relevant Product design experience A portfolio demonstrating exceptional UX craft, vision, systems design, and prototyping skills Experience as an influential design leader who ships impactful, strategic work-including multi-year visions to iterative releases Strong design point of view and understanding of how to balance the needs of the customer with that of the business Excellent storytelling skills, and a 'show don't tell' approach to aligning teams around a shared vision A strong drive to continuously learn and grow, particularly in leveraging AI and emerging technologies to enhance workflow efficiency and optimize team processes We're working to build a more inclusive economy where our customers have equal access to opportunity, and we strive to live by these same values in building our workplace. Block is an equal opportunity employer evaluating all employees and job applicants without regard to identity or any legally protected class. We will consider qualified applicants with arrest or conviction records for employment in accordance with state and local laws and "fair chance" ordinances. We believe in being fair, and are committed to an inclusive interview experience, including providing reasonable accommodations to disabled applicants throughout the recruitment process. We encourage applicants to share any needed accommodations with their recruiter, who will treat these requests as confidentially as possible. Want to learn more about what we're doing to build a workplace that is fair and square? Check out our I+D page . Block takes a market-based approach to pay, and pay may vary depending on your location. U.S. locations are categorized into one of four zones based on a cost of labor index for that geographic area. The successful candidate's starting pay will be determined based on job-related skills, experience, qualifications, work location, and market conditions. These ranges may be modified in the future.
