Field Service Technician

Nortek Data Center Cooling

• Commission, repair, and service mechanical and electrical equipment associated with new Data Center Cooling projects • Review work orders, blueprints, schematic diagrams and related materials to determine tasks to be performed, tools, equipment, and parts needed for installation or repair • Demonstrate experience in managing challenging jobs with the objective to mitigate the impact on customer’s building/experience while also minimizing the financial burden on the company • Consult with engineering and manufacturing personnel to resolve unusual problems in system operation and maintenance • Provide superior customer service to both internal and external customers while maintaining a professional appearance and demeanor • May advise management regarding customer satisfaction, product performance, and suggestions for product improvements

Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Three to five years’ experience in installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting; HVAC servicing or similar electromechanical experience preferred
  • Ability to travel ~85% of the time to various job sites for commissioning and warranty work
  • Superior analytical skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, plans, and manuals
  • Ability to stay on project through root cause analysis
  • Excellent customer service skills with desire to exceed internal and external customer expectations
  • Ability to work independently in a timely manner, ensuring job is completed correctly with outside technicians and ability to follow up on parts delivery

Role Description We are seeking a Field Calibration Technician to join our growing remote team. In this role, you’ll perform precise, high-quality calibrations at customer sites across diverse industries and locations. This is a field-based position that offers the chance to travel extensively, gain exposure to different environments, and build strong relationships with customers. Travel includes a mix of local day trips and overnight assignments, depending on project requirements. Key Responsibilities - Calibration Execution - Perform calibrations in accordance with company procedures and applicable standards (ISO/IEC 17025, ISO9001, AS9100, ANZ540.1). - Support a wide range of calibration disciplines with opportunities to cross-train and expand expertise. - Accurately document calibration results with full compliance and traceability. - Maintain calibration standards and report equipment issues as needed. - Adhere to Quality management system policies and procedures when performing work. - Create calibration data sheets accurately and efficiently, with minimal supervision, based upon instrument specifications and approved calibration procedures. - Field Support & Customer Engagement - Travel to customer sites, balancing local assignments with occasional overnight trips. - Set up and support mobile calibration workstations and onsite labs. - Communicate effectively with customers on service progress, technical needs, and scheduling. - Team Collaboration - Partner with supervisors and teammates to ensure projects are completed on time. - Engage in cross-training to grow skills across multiple disciplines. - Share feedback to improve service delivery and customer experience. - Quality & Compliance - Adhere to safety protocols, SOPs, and calibration standards. - Participate in audits, compliance checks, and continuous improvement efforts (5S, Kaizen). - Maintain professional, audit-ready workspaces. Qualifications - 5+ years of calibration experience in a lab or field environment. - College Degree in Electronics 2 or 3 years program is preferred. - Experience with GP calibration is required. - Willingness to travel for assignments (local and overnight) with company-covered expenses. - Familiarity with ISO/IEC 17025 and related calibration standards. - Strong attention to detail and ability to follow technical procedures. - Ability to travel as needed for personal skill enhancement and training; as well as, to fully support the customer calibration requirements.
