Lead Solar Field Service Technician II

• Troubleshoot and repair utility-scale solar systems, including inverters, combiner boxes, and string circuits • Perform testing: LOTO, IV curve tracing, megger/insulation testing, IR scans • Lead and direct 2+ field technicians on active solar farm sites • Assign work, track progress, and keep jobs on schedule • Perform operations and maintenance (O&M) on utility-scale solar plants • Inspect completed work and ensure it meets quality and safety standards • Enforce safety requirements (OSHA, NFPA 70E) on-site • Diagnose system issues and resolve them in the field • Complete work orders, service logs, and required documentation • Operate and maintain company vehicle and tools • Train and support junior technicians in the field
Job Requirements
- 3+ years of utility-scale solar experience (solar farms / ground-mount systems)
- Experience leading crews or acting as lead tech on-site
- Experience working on megawatt-scale PV systems (NOT residential rooftop solar)
- Strong electrical troubleshooting and repair skills (inverters, DC systems, power electronics)
- Experience with solar O&M / maintenance work
- Working knowledge of OSHA / NFPA 70E safety standards
- Experience using multimeters, meggers, amp clamps, and testing equipment
- Basic computer skills (Microsoft Office)

Role Description Grassland loss is the single greatest conservation issue currently facing eastern North American biodiversity. Our precious Southeastern grasslands are nearly extinct, and the species that depend on them are fading fast. Many of our Southeastern grasslands that managed to persist through the past 200 years have disappeared in the past quarter-century. If we want to reverse the tide of grassland biodiversity loss, our response must be rapid and unparalleled in its magnitude. Austin Peay State University’s (APSU) Southeastern Grasslands Institute (SGI) invites applications for a full-time Lead Field Technician position to study and restore native grasslands on National Parks across the Eastern United States as part of our Grasslands Restoration Team. The Lead Field Technician will: - Coordinate daily work duties for their team of field technicians. - Communicate project updates and needs with SGI’s Central Appalachian Grasslands Coordinator. - Collect baseline data from grassland remnants and identify grassland “reconstruction” sites. - Carry out restoration and land management work from all sites. - Travel extensively throughout the year, often working an alternative work schedule. - Spend up to 90% of time in the field, with overnight stays and travel expenses covered by grant funds. This position will be remotely based in the Blacksburg and/or Roanoke, Virginia areas and will directly report to SGI’s Central Appalachian Grasslands Coordinator. Qualifications - Knowledge of grassland community types of the Southeastern United States. - Knowledge of plant, bird, and pollinator species of the Southeastern United States. - Knowledge of grassland restoration and reconstruction practices. - Knowledge of invasive species management. - Ability to use a GPS device and GIS software. - Ability to learn quickly and adapt to challenges. - Ability to confidently lead and work as part of a team. • Responsible for installing, qualifying, maintaining, and servicing Repligen products. • Hands-on, field-based role operating across Europe requiring travel for installations, qualifications, training, and troubleshooting. • Work closely with Sales, Product Management, and Technical Support teams to ensure high-quality service delivery and customer satisfaction. • Conduct Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT) and Site Acceptance Tests (SAT). • Deliver customer training on system operation, software, and accessories. • Document service activities, resolutions, and technical updates in CRM and service platforms. • Collaborate with global FSE teams and Field Service Manager to share knowledge and coordinate service efforts. • Ensure compliance with GMP and other regulatory standards during service activities.
