Job Description

Senior Engineering Manager - GenAI

Bidgely, Inc

Role Description This is the perfect role for a hands-on builder with a founder’s mindset and a passion for problem solving at enterprise scale in Generative AI. You will function as the connective tissue between Product, Engineering, Data Science, Architecture, Security, and the Customer—owning execution, quality, and impact for all GenAI capabilities. As a technical leader, player-coach, and builder, you will bring strong product sense, GenAI systems knowledge, and a willingness to lead by example. You will manage 6–10 direct reports (applied ML engineers, platform engineers, prompt engineers), personally shape architecture, deliver production systems, and ensure that we build solutions enterprise customers will use—not just demos or experimental features. Your scope includes delivering scalable, secure, enterprise-grade GenAI capabilities embedded across Bidgely’s UtilityAI platform, driving measurable ARR, adoption, and operational leverage. What You’ll Do - GenAI Ownership - Deliver the GenAI product roadmap across features and SKUs. - Partner with Product leadership to ensure GenAI initiatives solve real utility pain points. - Collaborate with Sales/Marketing to enable positioning, demos, and value messaging. - Track adoption, utilization, token economics, and margin performance. - Ensure Data Science experimentation aligns with production readiness. - Safeguard enterprise readiness: performance, latency, compliance, auditability. - Hands-On Technical Leadership - Architect and review LLM-based systems (context management, RAG, agent frameworks, inference pipelines). - Make build vs. buy decisions across models, orchestration layers, and hosting. - Establish guardrails for security, PII handling, model evaluation, and data sovereignty. - Set standards for prompt engineering, evaluation harnesses, observability, and cost control. - Team Leadership - Manage, grow, and develop a high-caliber GenAI team in Bangalore. - Balance research, platform engineering, and product execution. - Instill disciplined release management and measurable outcomes. - Coach engineers into strong system thinkers and product-aware builders. What Makes You Successful Within 12–18 months, you will: - Establish a GenAI revenue line with clear attach rates and margin profile. - Build production-grade inference architecture with cost visibility and control. - Implement clear evaluation frameworks for product quality and business value. - Lead enterprise deployments with regulated utility customers. - Create a recognized center of excellence for applied GenAI within the company. Qualifications - 8–12+ years in software, with 3+ years in ML/AI systems. - Hands-on experience delivering into production: - LLM architectures, agent orchestration patterns - Inference optimization and token economics - Prompt engineering & evaluation frameworks - Experience leading 5+ direct reports. - Strong product instincts with the ability to translate ambiguity into shipped value. - Comfort debating architecture, cost structures, and GTM implications in the same meetings. Ideal Background - Experience building GenAI products in B2B SaaS environments. - Familiarity with regulated or enterprise verticals. - Knowledge of cloud-native architectures and containerized deployments. - Experience designing credit/token-based pricing models. - Exposure to data-heavy domains (IoT, AMI, telemetry, analytics platforms). - High ownership, operating like a founder. - Willingness to write docs, review PRs, and build prototypes. - Structured thinker who balances speed with enterprise rigor. - Strong internal diplomat without compromising standards. Benefits - Shape the future of clean energy. - Directly influence how millions of customers experience, understand, and participate in the energy transition—from electrification and EVs to smarter home engagement. - Build at scale, backed by real impact. - Join a global, high-caliber team. - Thrive in a culture of ownership and innovation. - Grow your craft and your career. Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Equal Opportunity At Bidgely, we’re on a mission to make a difference and build a workplace where every unique voice is heard and celebrated. We believe that celebrating the unique backgrounds, perspectives, and abilities of every employee impacts not only our company but also our clients, customers, and community. We are an equal opportunity employer and believe that the inclusive atmosphere we build together will enable every person to grow, contribute, and thrive. Our hiring decisions are based on your skills, talent, and passion—not on your background, gender, race, age, or how you dance at office parties.

Role Description We're hiring a Head of Engineering to build and lead the technical function across all three markets. The role reports directly to the CEO and sits on the leadership team. - Build and lead Broco's engineering function across Algeria, Morocco, Tunisia, and our growing remote presence across MENA. - Hire and develop the team — from the founding crew (Lead Payments, Backend, Native iOS/Android) to 20-35 engineers over 24 months. - Own the core financial systems Broco runs on: - double-entry ledger - reconciliation engine - idempotent payment flows - immutable audit trail - cross-border settlement - fiat/crypto bridging - Architect a highly concurrent multi-sided marketplace handling real-time commission splits, multi-currency flows, and high-volume transactions securely. - Operate within our starting stack (native iOS + Android with KMM, NestJS + TypeScript, PostgreSQL, AWS, modular monolith) — defended but not dogmatic. - Set the engineering culture that holds as the team scales across countries: code review, documentation, async-first, English-only in code and docs. - Partner with Risk & Compliance, Operations, and our banking partners on technical implementation of AML, KYC, sanctions screening, and regulatory controls. - Represent engineering in investor due diligence and technical reviews with banking partners. Qualifications - 7+ years of software engineering experience, including significant technical leadership — Head of Engineering, VP Engineering, Engineering Manager, Lead Architect, or Staff/Principal Engineer ready to step into leadership. - Strong background in fintech, payments, banking, marketplaces, or high-volume transactional systems. - Hands-on experience with ledger architecture, reconciliation, idempotency, or settlement systems. - Track record recruiting, mentoring, and managing high-performing engineering teams. - Comfortable operating in fast-paced, ambiguous environments where you set the roadmap. - Pragmatic and opinionated: you defend technical choices with arguments, not preferences. - Strong grasp of the complexities of bridging robust backend ledgers with multiple native mobile interfaces operating in diverse network conditions. - Excellent communication in English; French is a strong plus given our operational market and team. - Experience in a rapidly growing company in the fintech, mobility, or on-demand space is a strong plus. Benefits - 🚀 Perfect timing to join a highly ambitious startup and build a foundational financial infrastructure from scratch. - 🤝 Have a lasting impact on our company’s culture and engineering standards. - 📈 Extremely steep learning curve with high ownership, autonomy, and direct collaboration with the founders. - 🎯 Clear path to VP Engineering or CTO based on what you build. - 💰 Highly competitive compensation package, including a significant stock options package.
