As the Assistant Controller, Revenue, you'll join Coinbase's Accounting team within Finance to own all aspects of revenue recognition across a complex and rapidly expanding suite of crypto products. This team ensures the accuracy and integrity of Coinbase's financial reporting as we scale new offerings globally. You'll lead the application of ASC 606/IFRS 15 to crypto-native transactions, build the scalable processes and controls that support our growth, and serve as the go-to technical accounting resource for revenue across Product, Engineering, and Legal. What you'll do: - Own end-to-end revenue recognition for complex crypto-native transactions, including spot trading fees, staking rewards, and institutional product lines, ensuring compliance with ASC 606/IFRS 15 and company policies. - Lead month-end and quarter-end close processes for revenue, including journal entries, reconciliations, variance analysis, and timely financial reporting. - Partner with Product, Engineering, Data, and Legal teams to determine proper revenue accounting treatment and operationalize transaction flows for new product launches before they go live. - Build and scale revenue accounting processes, internal controls, and SOX-compliant frameworks to keep pace with Coinbase's growth. - Drive improvements to revenue systems and automation by leveraging blockchain data and modern tooling to increase accuracy and reduce manual effort. - Strengthen the Revenue team through hands-on mentorship, cross-departmental collaboration, and development of junior team members. - Support SEC reporting, board and senior management reporting by delivering monthly management reports, analytical reviews, and ad hoc financial analyses that inform leadership decisions. Required Skills and Experience: - 13+ years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 5 years directly focused on revenue recognition (ASC 606/IFRS 15) within a financial institution, fintech, or publicly traded technology company. - Direct people management experience - CPA designation with demonstrated ability to interpret and apply complex accounting guidance to novel business models, particularly in digital assets or emerging industries. - Hands-on experience implementing and monitoring SOX-compliant internal controls over revenue cycles at a publicly traded company. - Proficiency with ERP systems (NetSuite, SAP, or Oracle) and SQL, with experience using data tools to streamline reporting and reconciliation workflows. - Track record of managing and developing accounting teams while partnering cross-functionally with Finance, Product, and Engineering leadership. - Familiarity with or interest in crypto protocols, DeFi concepts, blockchain technology, and the broader digital asset ecosystem. - Utilizes generative AI responsibly, maintaining human oversight to deliver business-ready outputs and drive measurable improvements in workflow efficiency, cost, and quality.
