Technical Writer

• The position is responsible for creating and maintaining training materials and documentation support for both internal staff and external stakeholders in support of Civitek products. • Work closely with Program/Project Managers, Systems Project Analysts, Application Trainers and other team members to produce high-quality documentation for new and existing technology products. • Assume responsibility for assigned tasks relating to the production of documentation and media materials for all technology products. • Create and maintain technical documentation such as: User manuals, Application release notes, New functionality “how-to” guides, End-user training materials, Printable documents, advisories, and technical bulletins, Electronic newsletters and program release documents. • Write clear, concise user interface (UI) text and online interactive help content. • Develop tutorials and instructional content to support user adoption of applications and features. • Translate complex technical concepts into easy-to-understand content for non-technical users. • Edit, revise, and standardize materials created by other team members. Ensure all documentation aligns with organizational standards, branding, and tone. • Standardize content across platforms, applications, and media formats. • Revise and update documentation following each application production release. • Work closely with internal teams to understand software applications and documentation needs. • Respond to internal inquiries and requests for documentation or information. • Maintain open, professional communication with management, team leads, coworkers, Clerks’ offices, and external stakeholders. • Create and manage the structure of documentation libraries and information architecture.

Job Requirements

  • Associate’s degree in journalism, English, Communications, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Knowledge of or hands-on experience in IT or Computer Science is required.
  • A minimum of two (2) years of relevant professional experience in technical writing or a related field.
  • Proven experience in technical writing for software documentation, with a strong portfolio of work.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey complex information clearly and concisely.
  • Strong attention to detail and a commitment to producing high-quality, accurate documentation.
  • Ability to quickly grasp complex technical concepts and translate them into user-friendly content, including text and visuals.
  • Demonstrated initiative, strong team collaboration skills, and a positive work ethic.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment, managing multiple projects with varying tasks, deadlines, and requirements.
  • Familiarity with the software development lifecycle (SDLC) and working in technical or Agile environments.
  • Comfortable working independently while also contributing effectively as part of a cross-functional team.
