Role Description EVC seeks a Director of Applied QC to support our voter registration quality control systems in order to maximize civic engagements in communities of color. This role is ideal for someone with a strong handle on the ins and outs of voter registration programs, quality control, a deep attention to detail, and excellent communication skills with a variety of partners and communities, including technical and non-technical individuals. Experience working in data and technology with groups that connect with traditionally underrepresented communities is highly valued. The Director of Applied QC will report to the Sr. Director of Technology and Quality Control. What You Will Do in Your Role - Lead EVC’s Applied Quality Control Process - Lead a team of staff in providing analysis on hundreds of thousands of voter registration forms collected from dozens of partners. - Create and manage systems and policy that allow EVC to improve and innovate on our approaches to improve form quality. - Lead Partner Support and Decision Making - Ensure that partners across the country have adequate QC support on weekly calls and get key, strategic updates. - Lead EVC’s performance review processes. - Ensure partners have support in accessing voter registration data and doing QC investigations. - Audit QC results and work with QC staff to improve QC accuracy. - Manage QC Training and Policy - Oversee the development of trainings for new partners on flag resolution, form quality, and performance review standards. - Manage process for training and onboarding of new QC Liaison staff who directly support partners. - Collect and summarize feedback from partners about quality control processes, in order to update and improve systems. Qualifications - A minimum of 3-5 years of experience directly managing staff, including performance management and coaching, who execute complex technical or data-driven quality control processes. - Demonstrated success in leading the strategy, design, and implementation of technology/data projects, particularly high-stakes quality control systems or civic engagement programs. - Proven ability to lead high-level decision-making and negotiate solutions with multiple internal and external stakeholders, including partners, program staff, and senior leadership. - Exceptional ability to communicate complex technical and statistical concepts to diverse non-technical audiences (written and verbal). - Demonstrated ability to develop and implement new systems and policies to improve organizational efficiency and maintain high quality standards. Requirements - 20% Travel Required: The role involves extensive travel, comprising 20% of the working time, to attend site visits, partner kickoffs, staff events, and to provide book closing supports. Helpful but Not Required - Advanced knowledge or previous experience working in the fields of progressive organizing, civic engagement, or voting rights policy. - Familiarity with the political data ecosystem and progressive data platforms (such as Civis Platform, Politech, Catalist, or VAN). - Experience managing or auditing large-scale field operations (e.g., canvassing or field management). Performance Metrics & Review Schedule - Your first review will be 90 days after your start date, then a six-month check-in and a development review annually for the duration of your employment. - If the results of a review are unsatisfactory, more frequent reviews may be scheduled to monitor improvements. - If assigned improvement goals are not reached, a warning schedule may be implemented including the possibility of termination.
