Contracts and Legal Operations Specialist

DLB Associates

• The Contracts & Legal Operations Specialist focuses on contract administration and compliance, ensuring the company's legal and operational processes run smoothly. • Responsibilities include drafting, reviewing, redlining and managing contracts and NDAs while ensuring compliance with client, legal, regulatory and company-specific requirements. • The role involves assisting in dispute resolution and preparing for audits, while continuously optimizing systems and providing training to internal teams. • This person interacts with all departments in the firm and reports to the Contracts & Insurance Senior Specialist, while also working closely with General Counsel. • The Contracts & Legal Operations Specialist receives limited direction on day-to-day work and general instruction on new projects, tasks or assignments.

Job Requirements

  • Minimum of seven years of contract experience in a professional consulting services environment within construction or engineering
  • Paralegal certificate, paralegal experience or equivalent legal operations experience preferred
  • A degree in paralegal studies, business, legal studies or a related field may be substituted for up to two years of experience
  • Knowledge of contract law, legal terminology and regulatory compliance requirements
  • Knowledge of administrative and clerical procedures and systems such as word processing, managing files and records, designing forms and other office procedures and terminology
  • Skilled in using MS Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, Teams, SharePoint) and Adobe (and / or Bluebeam)
  • Skilled in drafting, reviewing and negotiating contracts with clients, subcontractors and vendors to secure favorable terms and manage any changes, amendments or renewals
  • Ability to interpret and apply legal language independently, exercising professional judgment without routine escalation to counsel
  • Ability to identify potential risks in contracts or insurance coverage and resolve disputes effectively by collaborating with legal and insurance teams

In this role, the Deputy Attorney General will be responsible for investigation, review, and litigation of antitrust cases and competition policy issues relevant to Indiana and ensuring free and fair competition. The Division’s work encompasses a variety of substantive areas of consumer protection and related law, ranging from laws prohibiting unfair, abusive, or deceptive acts in consumer transactions to laws governing nonprofit corporations and charitable trusts. Working as a Consumer Litigation Deputy provides a unique opportunity to apply one’s legal skills to protect the public interest in significant cases directly impacting the financial well-being of Indiana citizens. Examples of Duties - Assesses facts and law to recommend appropriate disposition of complaints alleging unfair, abusive, or deceptive acts against consumers; - Reviews pertinent decisions, policies, regulations, and other legal matters pertaining to cases; - Maintains caseload of investigation and litigation cases addressing violations of state and federal consumer protection laws, with an emphasis on competition law, including the Sherman Act, the Clayton Act, and Ind. Code § 24-1-2-1 and 2; - Reviews pre-merger notices submitted to the Office of the Indiana Attorney General pursuant to Ind. Code § 25-1-8.5; - Handles all phases of litigation, including factual and legal research, preparation of court papers, discovery, court conferences, hearings, and trials; - Advises other Office of Attorney General Divisions and other State agencies and officials about consumer protection issues and state and federal laws governing consumer transactions; - Coordinates Office’s consumer protection and antitrust enforcement efforts with efforts of other State Attorneys General Offices and with other state and federal regulators; - Interacts with the general public to educate Indiana consumers about consumer protection matters; - Performs other tasks assigned by the Section Chief or Director; - This position may require some travel, both within and outside the State. Qualifications - 2-3 years legal experience required. - Prior litigation experience preferred. - Licensed to practice law in the State of Indiana, or eligible for Indiana licensure, required. Requirements - Ability to balance and manage high volume of cases and investigations and to handle multiple assignments of varied type and difficulty on ongoing basis. - Knowledge of state and federal rules of procedure. - Familiarity with substantive law, in antitrust and consumer protection, preferred. - Familiarity with health care sector and/or mergers and acquisitions practice, preferred. - Excellent research and analytical skills. - Excellent written and oral advocacy skills. - Strong sense of ethics, awareness of potential conflicts of interest that arise in public sector, adherence to Rules of Professional Conduct and state ethics rules. - Strong organizational and time-keeping abilities. - Strong commitment to public service.
