Job Description

Staff Product Manager, Video Experience

General Motors

Title: Staff Product Manager, Video Experience Location: Warren, Michigan, Mountain View, California, United States of America Full time job requisition id JR-202612206 Why join us? General Motors pioneers the innovations that move and connect people to what matters. We see a world with zero crashes, zero emissions, and zero congestion. As we move toward this vision, software plays an integral role as it becomes more prominent in our vehicles. Our ambition in Software & Services Product Management is to build a world-class software development culture that is part of the company’s shared vision. We are creating an elite portfolio of software-defined vehicles by tightly integrating software, hardware, and services to create complete and compelling vehicle experiences for our customers. The Role As Staff Product Manager for Video Experience, you will define and execute the video experience roadmap across the full vehicle including all displays—for drivers (when safe) and passengers—on current vehicles and future SDV platforms. Today’s vehicles are becoming increasingly connected into our customers’ busy lives. They are bringing multiple displays, devices, and services into the vehicle, from video streaming to gaming and beyond. Expectations are evolving toward a whole‑cabin “living room” experience on the go, and you will lead the charge in crafting seamless, future‑forward solutions. You will anticipate future customer and business needs, build strategies to enhance the overall in‑vehicle video experience, and collaborate with other Product Managers and cross‑functional partners to shape the future of connected vehicle hardware and software. Thriving in fast-paced environments, demonstrating principled customer-centric decision-making, and building consensus across cross-functional teams will be critical to delivering exceptional video experiences in this role. We expect you to be proactive, willing to roll up your sleeves, and committed to delighting our customers with reliable and innovative solutions to challenging problems. What You’ll Do - Define and own the long-term video product vision and roadmap across all in vehicle touchpoints and displays, covering both driver (when safe) and passenger use cases on SDV2 and future platforms. - Balance user experience, safety, business objectives, and platform constraints to create a cohesive, phased roadmap that can scale across models and model years. - Lead cross functional teams including Design, Engineering, Program, and other Product Managers to deliver delightful, reliable video experiences for parked, Super Cruise–enabled, and passenger scenarios. - Monitor emerging trends in usability, media, and in cabin technology, leveraging data, research, and market analysis to inform product decisions. - Work with internal and external partners to ensure services and signals (e.g., content ecosystems, app platforms, devices) are available to support in vehicle video experiences. - Ensure platform services and policies are in place to support accessibility, profiles, family/parental controls, and multi-user/multi-display behavior. - Gather and analyze customer and field feedback to continuously improve video experiences and feed learnings into future requirements. - Establish and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure product effectiveness and success. Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications) - Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field or relevant experience - 8+ years working on technology-powered digital products in roles such as product or program management, product marketing, or technology development. - Proven ability to balance tradeoffs between consumer expectations, business objectives, and technical constraints. - Expertise in developing solutions to complex challenges using data-informed decision-making and risk assessment. - Demonstrated expertise in writing, with the ability to effectively balance and integrate vision, strategy, and technical details in a cohesive narrative. - Strong communication and storytelling skills, with the ability to articulate complex concepts effectively across stakeholders. What Will Give You a Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications) - Advanced educational background (MBA, engineering, computer science, etc.). - Background in automotive, consumer electronics, or other hardware + software domains where safety, reliability, and regulatory considerations are critical. - 5+ years of experience managing media, video, or entertainment experiences, including multi-screen or multi-device use cases. - 5+ years of digital/software product management experience leading digital products across platforms such as mobile, web, TV, or vehicle. It is based on what a successful applicant might be paid in accordance with applicable state laws.
