Telecommunications and Network Infrastructure Design Engineer
Rowan Digital Infrastructure
• Develop telecommunications infrastructure standards for Rowan data centers. • Design and review ISP and OSP telecommunications systems, including conduit pathways, duct banks, handholes, vaults, and fiber distribution networks. • Define fiber backbone architectures, route diversity requirements, and capacity planning strategies. • Support Carrier Entrance Facilities (CEF), Building Entry Facilities (BEF), Meet-Me Rooms (MMR), Main Distribution Frames (MDF), and Intermediate Distribution Frames (IDF) design and standards. • Coordinate telecommunications requirements across campus and building infrastructure. • Develop and maintain structured cabling standards for fiber optic and copper infrastructure. • Review telecommunications room layouts, rack elevations, pathways, and cable routing designs. • Support fiber allocation planning, patching strategies, labeling standards, and cable management practices. • Coordinate carrier access requirements, dark fiber connectivity, lit services, and interconnection strategies. • Review of customer telecommunications requirements and Owner Project Requirements (OPRs). • Support telecommunications commissioning activities, including fiber testing, OTDR validation, certification review, and turnover documentation. • Review telecommunications submittals, RFIs, shop drawings, and construction documents for compliance with Rowan standards. • Support the design and implementation of IT and OT network infrastructure within Rowan data centers. • Coordinate network requirements for Building Management Systems (BMS) and related operational technologies. • Assist with network topology development, IP addressing strategies, resiliency requirements, and infrastructure standards. • Review network equipment layouts, rack elevations, and telecommunications infrastructure requirements to ensure alignment with overall facility design. • Coordinate with network engineers, controls vendors, and operations teams during design, construction, commissioning, and turnover activities.
Job Requirements
- 5+ years of telecommunications infrastructure design experience.
- Experience supporting hyperscale, colocation, mission-critical, or large-scale industrial facilities.
- Strong understanding of ISP/OSP telecommunications design principles.
- Experience with structured cabling systems, fiber optic infrastructure, and carrier connectivity.
- Familiarity with Carrier Entrance Facilities, Meet-Me Rooms, MDFs, IDFs, and telecommunications room design.
- Working knowledge of IT/OT network infrastructure and BMS network requirements.
- Knowledge of BICSI, TIA, and telecommunications industry standards.
- RCDD certification preferred.
- Experience reviewing engineering drawings, specifications, and construction documents.
- Strong communication, coordination, and project management skills
