Manager, Server Onboarding
Vultr
• Lead the Server Onboarding team to deliver end-to-end activation of new servers at high velocity. • Oversee initial server imaging, bundled firmware updates, and automated provisioning pipelines. • Manage responses to capacity management requests that trigger new server deployments. • Perform basic post-onboard validation and ensure smooth handoff to the Platform team. • Build and maintain strong coordination with Capacity Management, Customer Success, and Solutions Engineering teams. • Develop and optimize automation scripts and validation processes to scale onboarding throughput. • Track onboarding metrics and drive continuous improvements in cycle time and first-pass success rate. • Mentor team members on provisioning best practices and support surge periods with efficient resource allocation. • Collaborate on large-scale server migration and repurposing initiatives as needed. • Contribute to documentation and knowledge sharing to reduce future onboarding toil.
Job Requirements
- 7+ years of experience in server provisioning, deployment automation, or infrastructure operations in a cloud/data center environment.
- Hands-on expertise with server imaging, firmware management, and automation tools (Ansible, scripting, etc.).
- Proven leadership experience managing technical teams during high-volume deployment phases.
- Strong project management and cross-functional collaboration skills.
- Experience working with remote hands providers and ticketing/monitoring systems.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent experience.
