Role Description As Senior Legal Counsel, you will provide global legal support across the organization, identifying and resolving complex legal issues while delivering advice that balances risk management with business objectives. You will partner closely with business leaders and legal colleagues to deliver high-quality legal and compliance support, with a hands-on focus on drafting, reviewing, and negotiating agreements. The role requires experience working on global or regional teams, a strong global mindset, and cultural sensitivity. A deep understanding of the business and the ability to effectively integrate legal and commercial considerations into practical guidance is essential. The position will report to the Vice President, General Counsel. This role is based remotely, with a strong preference for candidates located in Indianapolis, IN. In this role, you will have the opportunity to: - Draft, negotiate, and advise on commercial agreements and complex commercial legal matters, including antitrust, bankruptcy, clinical diagnostics, and related issues. - Manage litigation, government investigations, and regulatory matters, partnering with external counsel and supporting global product, quality, and regulatory teams on life sciences/diagnostics compliance (e.g., labeling, promotional review, post-market risks). - Provide practical guidance on global regulatory and compliance topics (e.g., anti-corruption/anti-bribery, trade and sanctions, competition/antitrust, third-party due diligence) in partnership with Compliance. - Support corporate governance, intellectual property, and Legal function leadership, including IP-related contract terms, confidentiality, open-source software use, board materials, delegated authorities, Legal policies, and representation in senior leadership meetings. - Develop training, playbooks, and process improvements, including use of AI to enhance legal workflows. Qualifications - 5+ years as a licensed U.S. attorney (active U.S. Bar membership in good standing) with experience in a nationally recognized law firm and in-house, preferably within life sciences, with global experience a plus. - Excellent academic credentials with the judgment and strategic mindset to advise senior stakeholders and influence decisions in a complex, matrixed environment. - Demonstrated leadership through mentoring and developing others, intentional team building, and driving outcomes through collaboration and accountability. - Substantial deal and negotiation experience, including leading executed transactions such as partnerships, collaborations, licensing, M&A, and research agreements. - Awareness of how AI, governance, and technology enablement connect to team practice, legal exposure, and responsible adoption. - Demonstrated ability to manage multiple concurrent priorities and stakeholders, with experience leveraging AI tools and technologies to improve legal processes, increase efficiency, and adapt to evolving AI-enabled workflows. Requirements - Ability to travel globally as needed, up to 20% of the time.
