Role Description Lanteris Space is seeking a Sr. Mechanical Design Engineer to join our Configuration organization at our offices in Mountain View, California. This position may also be performed remotely within the U.S. The Mechanical Configuration organization is responsible for the spacecraft-level layout design, accommodating all subsystems compatibly during all phases of the spacecraft mission. Our team converts the Systems Engineering book form specifications and block diagrams into 3D designs used to build the spacecraft on the assembly floor. We optimize layouts for system performance and other factors such as accessibility for assembly and test, optimal payload performance, mass properties, etc. The team documents the interfaces between major subsystems (for example: structures, antenna, and mechanisms) to ensure proper fit and alignments when the hardware comes to spacecraft integration. We are always looking at developing new ways to make Intuitive Machines satellites more competitive. The engineering support for a program starts as early as the proposal phase and continues through preparations for launch. The designs produced vary in complexity from component support bracketry to the spacecraft top assembly documentation. - Acts as the Mechanical Design Engineer for the mechanical configuration department - Generate engineering drawing and models with Creo and other design tools - Designs, document, and report on engineering progress on assigned projects - Assist in oversight for the integration of hardware into spacecraft systems architecture - Help disposition nonconformances and drive for process improvements Qualifications - Must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident - Bachelor's degree in mechanical, aerospace or other engineering discipline. Four additional years of experience may be substituted for a degree - Minimum 5 years of relevant experience, including piece part and subassembly modeling in CREO or other CAD software and assembly drawing generation. A master's degree may account for two years of experience Requirements - Strong verbal and written communication, organization, and leadership skills - Familiarity with Teamcenter - Ability to learn quickly and multi-task in a dynamic and fast-paced work environment - Experience with mechanical design for the spacecraft layouts that include the propulsion layout, external configurations, and internal component layouts - Understanding of how various propulsion and RF components work - Have experience facilitating design reviews, presenting technical ideas, and design status - Ability to manage schedules for design projects - Enjoying working with cross functional teams Benefits - Comprehensive package of benefits including paid time off - Health and welfare insurance - 401(k) to eligible employees
