Role Description In the Dashboard Platform team, we're on a mission to empower all developers at Algolia to ship frontend features to our customer-facing Dashboard, with an emphasis on offering a great and consistent customer experience, at scale. Role Description In this position, you will focus on designing and building high-quality APIs and internal developer tools that make a measurable impact on how hundreds of engineers work every day. - Design and build internal and customer-facing APIs and services that are secure, reliable, and well-documented. - Create developer tools and platform services that improve developer experience (DX): templates, CLIs, libraries, service scaffolding, automation. - Apply engineering best practices: test-driven development, code review, CI, and safe deployment patterns. - Engineer for operability: structured logging, metrics/tracing, health endpoints, and actionable alerts. - Collaborate with platform and product teams to standardize patterns (authn/authz, secrets, configuration, resilience, versioning). - Participate in incident response and reliability improvements; help teams reduce defects and operational risk. Qualifications - Strong software engineering experience delivering production services/APIs (design, implementation, testing, and operations). - Proficiency in at least one backend language (e.g., Java, Go, C#, Python, TypeScript) and modern API practices. - Experience with API design and lifecycle management (versioning, backward compatibility, pagination, error modeling). - Strong testing discipline (unit/component/integration tests) and comfort refactoring safely. - Working knowledge of cloud-native delivery: containers, CI/CD, and operating services in a cloud environment. - Ability to debug across layers (application, runtime, platform) using logs/metrics/traces. Requirements - Experience building and maintaining platform APIs (internal “product” mindset: usability, docs, support, adoption). - Experience with event-driven and asynchronous patterns (queues, pub/sub), reliability, and idempotency. - Security experience: OAuth/OIDC concepts, least privilege, threat modeling, input validation. - Experience improving reliability using SLOs and reducing toil through automation. - Experience with Kubernetes and infrastructure as code in partnership with platform/SRE teams. - Strong background in Go and/or Python. • Maintain and enhance an existing internal audit and code-modification platform. • Support, troubleshoot, and optimize GitLab CI/CD pipelines, merge request workflows, and pipeline execution processes. • Improve operational reliability, system performance, and platform stability through targeted enhancements. • Support LLM-driven and agentic workflows, including prompt execution, input/output validation, and deterministic processing patterns. • Implement and improve observability capabilities, including logging, telemetry, run tracking, debugging, and operational visibility. • Enhance developer experience for reviewing automated code changes, generated merge requests, and codemod outputs. • Assist engineering teams with platform usage, issue resolution, and workflow improvements. • Execute backlog items independently while working within the existing architecture and technical framework. • Collaborate with stakeholders to translate business and engineering requirements into practical platform improvements. • Review and improve generated code changes and automated remediation outputs to ensure quality and reliability.

You Have - A minimum of 5 years of related experience with a Bachelor's degree; or 3 years and a Master's degree; or equivalent work experience. - Experience building, operating, or improving backend or infrastructure systems used by engineering teams. - Strong software engineering fundamentals and the ability to work across unfamiliar systems, codebases, and technical domains. - Experience in one or more platform areas such as deployment systems, CI/CD, Kubernetes, Kafka or event streaming, Temporal, databases, observability, service infrastructure, or developer tooling. - A track record of turning ambiguous technical problems into clear plans and working solutions. - Comfort partnering with engineers and technical leaders across teams to understand needs, explain tradeoffs, and drive decisions. - Interest in using AI as part of your engineering workflow and helping others learn how to apply it well. - Curiosity, judgment, and willingness to ask questions early so the team can move with clarity.
