The position is suited to someone who is technically strong, self-directed and comfortable working with limited day-to-day supervision. You will work as a senior member of the team, supporting client delivery, reviewing work, assisting with workflow and handling client communication when required. About Our Client Our client is a large, locally owned accounting and advisory firm based in Newcastle, with a team of around 55 people across accounting, advisory and support functions. The firm is known for building long-term client relationships, providing practical business advice and maintaining a supportive internal culture. Their client base is heavily business-focused, including SMEs, family groups, trusts, partnerships, and private businesses. The firm has a strong leadership structure, with Directors, Principals, Managers, Senior Accountants and offshore support working across defined teams. They are also progressive in their use of systems and are actively exploring ways to improve workflows, technology, and automation across the practice. Your responsibilities will include: - Reviewing compliance work, including income tax returns, BAS and smaller entity jobs - Preparing and overseeing financial statements, tax returns and reporting requirements - Supporting compliance deadlines across your client portfolio - Assisting with workflow priorities, job allocation and team coordination - Acting as a key point of support for junior staff - Reviewing and coaching junior accountants, with clear and constructive feedback - Handling client queries by phone and email when required - Supporting management reporting and broader business services work - Contributing to advisory and value-add client outcomes where appropriate - Working closely with the Principal and Manager on ad hoc client and team matters Because this is a fully remote role, the position is best suited to someone who enjoys senior technical and client support work, rather than someone whose main goal is regular face-to-face advisory meetings.
