PowerBI Developer

• Design, build, and deploy interactive visual reports and KPI scorecards using Power BI Desktop. • Construct robust semantic models, establish data relationships, and apply data filters or row-level security (RLS). • Write and optimize complex DAX and tune report performance for large datasets. • Partner with cross-functional business units to define reporting needs, gather business requirements, and drive BI adoption.

Job Requirements

  • Minimum of 5 years experience with BI Platforms: Deep expertise in Microsoft Power BI (Service, Desktop, and Report Server).
  • Advanced proficiency in SQL (T-SQL) and DAX
  • Strong capabilities with Power Query / M-code
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Azure (Synapse, Data Lake), Microsoft 365, and Power Automate
  • Writing complex calculations, time-intelligence functions, and performance-tuned measures.
  • Writing relational database queries, views, and stored procedures to fetch source data.
  • Designing efficient data structures using Star Schema principles, facts, and dimension tables.
  • Extract, transform, and load (ETL) data from multiple sources (SQL databases, APIs, ERP/CRM platforms) using Power Query.
  • Selecting correct chart types, structuring layouts, and using color theory for scannable dashboards.
  • Managing workspace permissions, data gateways, scheduled refreshes, and Row-Level Security (RLS).

This individual will work closely with data owners and stakeholders to translate business processes and requirements into scalable reporting tools, dashboards, and data models that support operational and strategic decision-making. This role involves full lifecycle BI development, including building and enhancing reports in tools such as Power BI and SSRS, developing and maintaining SQL Server databases, and supporting SSAS tabular models through creation of measures, relationships, and row-level security. The BI Developer will also assist with ETL processes, including monitoring data pipelines, troubleshooting performance issues, and optimizing SQL queries and integrations to ensure system reliability and efficiency.
