This role is ideal for an Android-first engineer who is passionate about creating modern, scalable, and visually cohesive user experiences through reusable UI components and design system architecture. The team develops and maintains shared libraries, tools, and documentation used across Android, iOS, and web platforms to deliver consistent associate- and customer-facing applications. This position will work closely with designers, product managers, and engineering teams to build reusable Android UI components, improve developer experience, and contribute to scalable mobile architecture initiatives. Key Responsibilities: - Develop, maintain, and enhance reusable Android UI components and libraries using Jetpack Compose and Kotlin - Contribute to the evolution of a cross-platform design system and ensure consistency across applications - Collaborate closely with design, product, and engineering teams to implement intuitive, high-quality user experiences - Build scalable Android frameworks and services that support long-term product growth - Review code, provide technical guidance, and support API and framework improvements - Partner with internal application teams to help integrate and consume design system components - Monitor application performance, identify usability issues, and implement improvements - Contribute to CI/CD processes and engineering best practices for Android development - Maintain and improve technical documentation, examples, and implementation guides - Stay current with emerging Android technologies, frameworks, and UI development trends Required Qualifications: - Extensive experience with Android UI development, themes, styles, and Material Design principles - Strong experience with Jetpack Compose and modern Android architecture patterns - Experience building, maintaining, and scaling design systems or reusable UI libraries - Strong knowledge of Kotlin, Java, Android SDK, and Android Studio - Experience with Kotlin Flows and reactive UI development - Experience with Git/GitHub and CI/CD pipelines for Android applications - Familiarity with Room Database, SQLite, REST/SOAP services, JSON, and XML - Experience with testing frameworks such as JUnit and Mockito - Ability to work effectively in cross-functional agile teams with designers and product managers - Strong communication and collaboration skills in a remote environment Preferred Skills: - Experience supporting multi-platform design systems (Android, iOS, Web) - Familiarity with backend technologies and shell scripting - Experience contributing to developer documentation platforms or component showcases About Matlen Silver Experience Matters.
