Role Description We are looking for an Accounting Manager to take full ownership of the accounting function at a Dallas-based insurance brokerage. This is a hands-on role where you will: - Centralize day-to-day financial operations - Improve reporting visibility - Reduce dependency on outside accounting firms - Become the go-to internal person for accounting, reporting, and finance The ideal candidate has strong accounting fundamentals, insurance brokerage or financial services experience, and the ability to work independently without constant direction. Qualifications - 5+ years of accounting, controllership, senior bookkeeping, or accounting management experience - Insurance brokerage, insurance agency, or insurance accounting experience strongly preferred - Strong understanding of US GAAP and experience supporting US-based businesses - Strong reconciliation experience with the ability to own accounting workflows from start to finish - Comfortable learning accounting systems, agency management systems, or other industry-specific platforms - Strong Excel and Google Sheets skills - Clear written and verbal English communication skills - Ability to work US Central Time business hours - High attention to detail, strong follow-through, and the ability to work independently - Trustworthy and reliable with sensitive financial information Requirements - Own the entire accounting function of a growing insurance brokerage with direct access to leadership - Stable, long-term role with real ownership and room to build better processes from the ground up Benefits - You will be paid in USD (bi-monthly: every 15th and 30th) - Paid Time Off in accordance with company policy - Observance of Holidays per company guidelines - 100% remote setup so you can work wherever you're most productive - This role requires availability during US Central Time business hours What You'll Work On - Accounting and Financial Operations: - Own day-to-day accounting operations and maintain a clear, accurate view of cash, receivables, payables, commissions, and other financial activity - Perform regular reconciliations and improve visibility across the company's accounting workflows - Review, organize, and manage financial transactions across accounting and agency management systems - Support month-end close, reporting, and financial review processes - Maintain accurate books in accordance with US GAAP principles - Identify issues, discrepancies, gaps, or inefficiencies in existing accounting workflows and fix them - Help transition appropriate work away from outside firms and non-accounting team members into a centralized internal function - Reporting and Leadership Support: - Prepare financial reports and run numbers for leadership as needed - Provide timely, accurate reporting to support business decision-making - Help leadership understand financial trends, variances, and key business drivers - Assist with basic budgeting, margin tracking, and performance visibility - Respond to ad hoc and last-minute reporting requests with professionalism and accuracy - Systems and Process Improvement: - Learn the company's accounting workflows and internal systems including Applied Epic if needed - Document, organize, and standardize accounting processes - Create better controls, checks, and visibility around money movement - Remove accounting tasks from non-accounting team members so they can focus on their core roles - Payroll, HR, and Administrative Support: - Support certain payroll-related functions and coordination - Work with the company's HR professional and help ensure HR administration runs smoothly - Help track onboarding, offboarding, payroll coordination, and related administrative workflows - Banking, Compliance, and Vendor Coordination: - Coordinate with banking partners, outside accounting firms, and internal stakeholders - Maintain clean books and reliable reporting to support company banking relationships - Handle sensitive financial and client-related information securely and professionally Nice to Have - CPA or equivalent accounting credential - Applied Epic experience - Experience with insurance commissions, carrier payables and receivables, agency billing, or trust account reconciliation - Prior Controller or Accounting Manager experience in a small or mid-sized company - Experience coordinating with outside accounting firms or bookkeeping partners - Experience with basic forecasting, budgeting, and management reporting - Experience supporting payroll and HR administration - Experience working remotely for a US-based company How to Apply Please include: - Your updated resume - A short Loom video (1 to 2 minutes) introducing yourself, describing your accounting background, and walking through how you have owned an accounting function or taken over a fragmented process and improved it Only candidates who submit a Loom video will be moved to the next step of the hiring process.
