Pension Officer

• Provide expert pension administration support to payroll officers. • Ensure accurate processing, reporting, and compliance of LGPS and TPS. • Process and verify pension data for starters, leavers, opt outs, opt ins, transfers, and retirements. • Prepare and submit monthly and annual pension data returns to TPS and relevant LGPS funds. • Reconcile contribution payments and resolve data or payment discrepancies. • Maintain pension records and ensure all data is accurate and up-to-date in payroll and pensions portal. • Support monitoring of contribution rates, pensionable pay, and compliance with auto enrolment legislation. • Support the completion of audit and year-end reporting for education clients. • Provide guidance to payroll officers and clients on pension scheme rules, data requirements and compliance issues.
Job Requirements
- Experience working with LGPS and Teachers’ Pensions within an education or payroll environment.
- Strong understanding of UK public sector pension rules and payroll processes.
- Excellent accuracy and attention to detail in handling large volumes of data.
- Good numeracy and IT skills, including use of payroll and pension administration software.
- Strong communication and customer service skills, with a professional approach.
- Ability to manage priorities and meet strict deadlines.
- Experience working in a third party payroll or education support services provider (desirable).
- Knowledge of auto-enrolment and pension compliance (desirable).
- Working towards or holding a relevant qualification (e.g. CIPP, pension administration training) (desirable).

Role Description The People & Culture (P&C) Associate supports the effective delivery of core workforce processes, data management, and coordination of P&C activities within the Global Emergency Unit (EmU), with a particular focus on the Global Surge Team (GST). This role plays an important part in ensuring that employee data, systems, and processes are accurate, up to date, and well-coordinated to support operations in a dynamic context. This is a hands-on, detail-oriented role that requires a strong ability to learn quickly, follow and apply processes consistently, and manage information with a high level of accuracy. The P&C Associate will work closely with colleagues across P&C, Finance, and EmU’s Deployment Team, supporting day-to-day operations while helping to identify and resolve process or data issues. Success in this role requires strong attention to detail, learning agility, and an ability to think across systems, understanding how data, processes, and teams connect, and providing problem-solving support when something may be misaligned. This role offers an opportunity to build experience in emergency P&C operations, systems, and data in a fast-paced and mission-driven environment. Location: This is a national contracted position based in Honduras, Nigeria, or Kenya. All current IRC staff employed on national or local contracts in CRRD, regardless of their country of assignment, are eligible for consideration for this position and can be based at any IRC location. Qualifications - Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Social Sciences, or a related field (or equivalent experience). - Approximately 1–3 years of relevant experience in HR/P&C, administration, data management, or operations. - Exposure to fast-paced or international work environments is an advantage.
